Dec 30

Since my last semi-coherent post, my obsession with the book “Shaped Beadwork” has continued. I’ve been making Oval Links.

I’ve made a Celtic Trefoil.

And I’ve started making Trillium Flowers.

One thing you might have noticed is that the Oval Links and the Celtic Trefoil haven’t been made into anything wearable. I have a good justification for the Trefoil since it’s for my mother and she hasn’t decided what to do with it yet.

I have no good reason for the Oval Links though. The finished design is all laid out. I just have to execute it. Maybe it’s like finishing a sweater? Some people are more interested in the process rather then the product.

There should be hope for the flowers though as I’m very interested in seeing the finished necklace.  I just need to make three more flowers.

Ha! “Just need?” Between real life interruptions and resting my eyes, each flower takes me about half a day to make!

I’m also  going to run out of supplies and I’m going to need to wait until I can order more then have them shipped to me to finish it all.

Oh well. It’s about the process, right? :)

Here’s Sammy and Scheyer. Sammy is either taking a bite out of Scheyer or he’s giving him a kiss. You decide.

Happy New Year, everyone! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the support you’ve all given me as I make my way through my creative processes. :)

Dec 26

I’m a few minutes late, but to all of you who celebrate it,

Merry Christmas! I hope your day was a joyous one! :)

P.S. This is my only Christmas tree.

P.P.S. I’m working on getting a Dallas Cowboy one for next year.

P.P.P.S. Shut up about the Cowboys!

Dec 21

This pretty much says it all.*

So there are words, just not too many. Hopefully I’ll have recovered from the busy weekend enough to have a more substantial post tomorrow. :)

Dec 16

For those who can remember, that’s the theme song to Three’s Company. I’ve had that stuck in my head all morning and it’s making me a bit cranky. I’m trying to chase it away with some 30 Seconds To Mars, but so far it’s a no go.

Maybe I just need to turn the music up louder.

Moving on.

I hurt my thumb while i was  speed knitting over the weekend so all knitting activity has been put on hold until it’s healed properly. I’m not sure what I did, but I see a doctor on Friday. It’s feeling a LOT better today then it did yesterday though.

Still, I’ve now become hyper-focused on the tiny beads.

I’m making open shaped components from the book “Shaped Beadwork” by Diane Fitzgerald. That woman is just the awesome when it comes to beadwork.  I’ve always admired her work and this book just blows my mind away.

I’m starting small with these open shapes and working up to the shapes with bezels in them. The bezels. They scare me.  (The front cover shapes have bezels.)

I’ve actually had this book for awhile now, but the whole thing kind of intimidated me. It wasn’t until I went to lunch with a bunch of my girls this past Saturday that I decided to just go for it.

My friend Helen is the one who inspired me in particular. She’s not afraid of learning new things, doing new things, meeting new people. Anything.  She’s always has the sweetest disposition and a smile for everyone. So not only does she inspire me in my beadwork, she inspires me in life.

Here’s a picure of the two of us this past Saturday. It’s a little grainy because it was taken with a cell phone, but I think Helen looks beautiful!

Elaine made us hold up our hands to show off our jewelry. Heehee.

So who inspires you?

Happy Wednesday everyone!

I almost wrote Tuesday…..  o.O

Also.. if you’ve been earwormed, remember there’s a huge ocean between most of you and me.

Do you remember these little suckers that I made way back when?

I finally put them to good use and I now have a bracelet I can wear about town when I’m out and about.

Once I was done with the beads themselves, all I had to do was simple stringing. Only I’m not very good at simple stringing.

Which is why I didn’t do a close-up of the toggle area.

Instead I give you this.

For once, Scheyer is actually giving this one the benefit of the doubt.

I hope you all had a great weekend! Have a good one. :)
