Catching up.

It’s Monday and I’m more then a little behind.  I’ve spent today trying to catch up, but it’s all a little overwhelming so I’m doing things in small increments.

For starters, I listed more yarn in my shop.

200 yards 14 WPI
3.95oz
100% Merino

fiber from Zarzuela’s Fiber

That’s is the yarn I spun from the roving you first saw in this post. I really enjoyed spinning it and I’m very happy with the results.

It took me awhile to get my camera to cooperate though. It just didn’t want to capture the true colors. What a naughty thing it was.

205 yards 14 WPI
4.2 ounces
100% Merino

fiber from Hungry For Handspun

I always enjoy spinning Jen‘s fiber.  This one was especially fun since I don’t normally go for the pinks. These shades were just too hard to resist.

These two and three others, which I’ll show later,  were all spun over a week ago. I haven’t touched my spinning wheel for almost a week. I think I have tendonitis in my knees. I see my doctor tomorrow and hopefully he’ll be able to do something other then prescribe rest.

They do feel a lot better with the rest, so I’m going to attempt a half hour today. Some people question  my ability to stop after only  a half hour. I’m a little skeptical as well.

I’m waving a picture of some felines to distract you all from my decided lack of will power and ability to keep myself in check.

Happy Monday! Have a good one!

Spoiled.

In the past week, I received two unexpected packages in the mail. The first package was from Lori and it was a late birthday present. My birthday in in October, but as Lori said in the card, “better late then never!”

She sent me three gorgeous batts from Enchanted Knoll Farm in the Margarita colorway.

The other box was from Lisa and it was so chock full of goodness I couldn’t fit it all in one shot. The woman obviously knows my fixation with all things Hello Kitty.

Do you see the little blue ball? It’s a felt ball! It’s the cutest thing. It has a little sheepie on it and it can be used as a keychain or as a stitch marker holder. My love for it rivals the Hello Kitty swag.

And she didn’t stop there. Lisa also included the most gorgeous Blue Face Leicester roving from Yarn Hallow in the Seattle colorway. The colors are perfect!

There might have also been a box of the most delicious Dutch cookies ever, but you can’t prove it by me.

Thank you Lisa and Lori! The two of you really know how to spoil a girl. :)

Happy Wednesday! I hope you all get a chance to spoil yourselves.

Lemming!

The pretty blue yarn has been put away and will be knit into a Swallowtail Shawl (Ravel It!) sometime in the future. For now, I’ll be knitting with Plymouth Sockotta.

Now I just need to figure out if I want to do a simple ribbing or actually throw in some patterning. Since we all know what a decisive person I am, the process should only be as agonizing as nails on chalkboard.

At least one decision has been made.

I’ll be lemming with Jeanne, Cookie, Sallee, and JessaLu.

Basically you stick the yarn with the pattern you want to use into a bag. Do this for each month of the year and then you have your own personal sock club.

Putting twelve balls of yarn  into twelve little bags made me realize just how much sock yarn I have. This is going to be a good thing! I’m really excited!

I think that I should try for a sock yarn moratorium as well. I still had some yarn that could have been put into paper bags and that doesn’t include the yarn I have in reserve for special projects that require extra concentration. (Like Cookie A. projects.)

Still, I can’t stop drooling over the yarn. Even Sammy is on the lookout.

I hope Monday treated you well! Hopefully there’ll be handspun tomorrow!

I grabbed some yarn out of the sock yarn bin the other day for my next pair. It kind of languished for awhile, but I finally cast on yesterday.  I have no idea what kind of yarn it is as the lable is MIA, but it was in the sock yarn bin. Thus, it must be sock yarn.

However, as I was knitting with it, I began to wonder if it really was sock yarn. It’s very thin and I could go out on a limb and call it laceweight. Even some of the girls at knit night commented on how thin the yarn is. Not a good sign.

Take a look. (Please excuse my dishwater hands. Also, they yarn is blue. Not purple! Stoopid camera.)

I’ve knit about an inch of ribbing and I like the way it feels. Only these socks are meant to be a gift and I’m worried about them wearing out if this yarn is a lace yarn rather then a sock  yarn.

So I have a dilemma. Continue to knit this as a sock or choose a yarn that I know will hold up. The practical choice is to choose another yarn, but I do so love knitting with this  yarn.  What with me being me, the decision on what to do with this yarn could be an epic battle.

My knitting mojo is really out of whack. First there’s the FLS with the gauge issues. Now we have the sock with yarn issues.

Issues, people! Serious. Knitting. Issues.

Thank the fiber gods for spinning.

That’s more Butterscocth for a custom order. I loves me my 80-count Merino.

And since it’s ECF.. why not a cat picture?

He doesn’t look too pleased, does he?

TGIF! I am so glad this week is over. Have a fabulous weekend!

I went to bed at around 3am last night after succumbing to a craving for noodles that hit me around midnight. I tried to resist but I gave in at around 1:30am. (Thanks again, Jen!)

My noodles of choice?

It’s a little pricier then Top Ramen, but I think it’s well worth the price.  It’s got such spicy goodness! My lips always burn a little when I’m finished eating. That’s sure a sign of a good meal. ;-)

I don’t have a good segue from noodles into handspun. So I’m just going to throw pictures at you.

For the rest of the day I plan on plying my ass off. However, this might make the task difficult after awhile so I’ll settle for seriously crippling my knees.

I may or may not be joking.

Also, I have cast on the FLS in a different size. Now it may be too small instead of too big. I feel like Goldilocks and it’s making me cranky.

Not to mention that several people have reported the yarn pills like a mofo. I considered going with a different yarn, but I think I’ll just find a sweater shaver instead. Only they’re rather hard to find on a tropical island.

I can’t imagine why….

If I can’t find one myself, I’ll have to ask a SuperKnitter to rescue me.

All in all, I think you’ll agree that Friday can’t come soon enough. Especially since I have to see what happens to Admiral Adama!
