I heart the hearts.

This past Sunday I took a class at The Bead Gallery and I learned how to make hearts!

hearts!

hearts!

I admit I was a little skeptical about how I’d take instructions as I can be very contrary and resistant to  dictators authority orders suggestions, but I had a blast! Jamie was very patient and she made the whole experience a fun adventure.

In fact, I had such a good time I came home with all the tools necessary to keep going on my own.  I was a little appalled at how much I spent, but I’ll be using most of the tools for future classes. (Yes I signed up for more!)  Plus, good tools are a good investment. At least this is what I keep on telling myself. ;-)

To keep the rationalizations alive, I put the tools to good use and made more hearts.

I realize these aren’t perfect hearts. These are hearts with character. I fully embrace the fact that these will most likely never be symmetrical hearts. At least I try. To be honest, my obsessive nature aspires for perfectly manufactured hearts. But that wars with my desire to create unique free form hearts. What kind of hearts do you like?

Yes, I’m all bout the hearts.

I leave you with a creature I heart.

In between the making of critters and cat toys, I’ve managed to squeeze in some time at the wheel here and there. As you can see, my love for 3-ply yarn has not abated.

That’s been washed, whacked, and is now drying outside. Next I’ll be plying, plying, plying.

I’ve also been doing some beading. I recreated some earrings I made awhile back and threw them on the shop.

So far I seem to be juggling my varied hobbies in a somewhat competent manner, but I feel rather scattered. I much prefer to focus on one thing at a time. I’m still searching for a better way to manage my many interests in a more stress free fashion.

Maybe what I need to do is designate each hobby to a specific day of the week. Only that seems rather too structured for my carefree ways.

Suggestions are welcome. :)

Sammy suggests I kick back and go with the flow.

Happy Friday everyone! Have a fantastic weekend! May it be filled with Pumpkin Spice Lattes.

A friend of mine just welcomed two new cats to her home. I decided it would be a good idea to give the cats a little present to welcome them into their new home.  So I took my handy hooks and some scrap yarn and went to work.  Truly though, I can hardly call these work.

cat toys

cat toys

All of the toys above have been made with acrylic yarn, which makes for a good sturdy fabric in which cats can gnaw at will. There’s an octopus, a fish, two mice, and a goldfish. I’m much too lazy to link all the patterns I used here, but you can check them out on my Ravelry projects page.

A few people* have nominated me for a blog award that’s been circulating the blogosphere. I’ve finally decided to participate in the nominating of the award.

The rules are as follows:

1. Please put the award on your blog.

2. Add a link to the person who awarded you

3. You must nominate at least 4 fellow bloggers for this award.

4. Add links to the recipients.

5. Leave a comment so the recipients know they have received an award.

And the nominees are (in no particular order):

  1. Cookie – Shut Up & Knit
  2. Karen B. – Yarn Is My Metier
  3. Lori – From The Wool Room
  4. Megan – Knitting the Knotty Way

There you have it. That’s how I spent my Wednesday night. Whipping up cat toys and contemplating which blogs to award. I almost skipped the whole thing, but I really think the four ladies above deserve some recognition.

Have a good one folks! Friday is becoming ever less elusive!

*Thank you Fleegle, Jeanne, and Hakucho!
