One for the road.

I was able to finish one more skein before the Ravelympics wrapped up. The thing is I posted my second project on the Finish Line thread 17 hours ago, but what looks like the last medals were handed out 16 hours ago on the thread. So I’m not sure if more medals will be given out or what.

Either way, I still feel somewhat accomplished. I now have approximately 900 yards of merino/tencel, 2-ply laceweight out of  4 ounces of roving from Hungry For Handspun.

I absolutely loved spinning this yarn. The merino/tencel blend is so soft. It’s like buttah. I also love the sheen of the tencel. I plan on acquiring much more of this sometime in the future.

Hopefully I’ll be able to list this, as well as 4 other skeins up on my shop either today or tomorrow. You can always check out the shop blog for news on shop udates.

Happy Monday everyone! Let’s pray it’ll be over soon. :-P

Pressie

Pressie.

It all happened very suddenly.  First we noticed she was having a hard time breathing. along with some very disturbing behaviors, and the next we rushed her to a vet clinic that was open on a Sunday. Unfortunately it’s 45 minutes away. Luckily we got there in a half hour.

They worked on her for  what seemed forever, but was really only maybe 45 minutes. They even performed CPR on her. In retrospect I should have told them not to go to any extreme measures, but like I said, it happened very suddenly. In the end, she never did regain consciousness.

The vet said she though that it was probably a stroke or something associated with her heart. I’m just hoping she didn’t suffer for very long. I really tried my best to get her to help as fast as I could and that is providing me with very little solace at the moment.

Words can’t express how much she meant to me.

I had a very low-key weekend.  I watched a couple of baseball games and a movie.  The movie, White Noise 2: The Light, was pretty good. I love me some Nathan Fillion and it was interesting to see Katee Sackhoff in role other then Starbuck of Battlestar Galactica.

I also plied my ass off.  I ended up with three semi-finished projects. (I still need to wash and set the twist.)

The first yarn was spun from an alpaca, silk, and merino blend roving I got from Lori’s shop, From The Wool Room. Despite its tendency to shed all over the place (I hear this is the nature of silk), it was heavenly to spin! It’s so soft too. This is a simple 2-ply yarn.

I’m choosing to call the second yarn Deep Sea Diving because it reminds me of the ocean’s colors when it’s far from the coastline. I got this braid from MDSW and it’s by Spirit Trail Fiberworks. It’s a 100% Merino 3-ply.  I think Merino has to be my most favorite fiber to spin.

We have more Merino for the finale. This time by C*eye*ber Fiber. I’m calling this one Purple Fog. It’s also a 3-ply fingering weight yarn.

Now that these are done, I can concentrate on my Ravelympics spinning.  I’ll be showing you all what’s on the wheel a little later this week.

But now is the time to unveil the winner of the contest.

*drum roll*

Hattie of Stitch Therapy

Because Hattie was the only one to get all them all right I decided to do a consolation prize. So I did a random drawing of everyone who entered and the consolation prize goes to:

Julie of Ozark Knitting!

I’ll be contacting you both for more information on how to get your stitch markers to you.

Thanks so much to everyone who participated. I think I’ll hold more contests in the future, only I won’t make them so tricksy.

I’d also like to thank everyone for the get well wishes. I’m slowly getting better. The muscle relaxants help, but they turn me into a first class space cadet. Not that I wasn’t one already, but I think I’m making less sense then I normally do. I suppose coherency is overrated?

Happy Monday everyone! Be well.

Goodies!

Today I had planned to do a demo with my spinning wheel at an event in downtown, but my health dictated otherwise. I was sorely disappointed in this change of plans until I received a package in the mail from our Cookie.

I can’t remember why she sent me the package. Something about being the so many numbered commenter on her delicious blog. I can’t remember because I suffer from Chronic CRS. Either way, I was ecstatic over all the goodies she sent me.

Wanna see?

Hello Kitty swag.

Hello Kitty swag.

I loves me my Hello Kitty swag. I do. I really really do. And what swag there is! The stickers! The notebook! The cute little pencil bag! She even included glittery pencils in the bag! And there’s a utility bag that had a pencil sharpener inside. How clever is our Cookie? Of course she knew that I would not have a way of using the pencils without one!

I’ll stop with the exclamation points now.

She didn’t stop with the spoiling there. Lookie what else was in the package.

yum.

yum.

I’m particularly looking forward to trying the Wasabi Soy Almonds. Mm. Wasabi.

Aren’t the stitch markers sweet?  I’m a firm believer in the “You Can Never Have Too Many Stitch Markers” cult. It’s a spin off of the “Sock Yarn Doesn’t Count As Stash” church.

So thank you, Cookie. This package was timed perfectly.

I had one other perfectly timed package, which had another braid of merino from All Spun Up. Now, I tried to resist. Honestly, I did! It sat in her shop for nearly four days before I gave in. Four days shows considerable restraint for me, people!

It’s got all my favorite colors. Blue, green, and brown. I can’t wait to see how it spins up.

Finaly, I have a Saturday Sky to share with you.

Happy Saturday, everyone! Enjoy your weekend and don’t forget to enter my contest!*

P.S. Hint of the day for the contest is that all the answers lie within my Flickr pages.
