Savor The Sock

Posted under miscellaneous & socks

I spent a fairly quiet holiday. We stayed in and watched Wire In The Blood, Season 1, which was outstanding. I got another tier done on the Forest Path Stole, but it’s at that stage where pictures would be too boring. It’s basically just more of the same and so is the knitting. To say it makes boring blog fodder would be an understatement. For all that, I really am enjoying it.

I also battled with the spinning wheel. I haven’t touched it since my last desktop died and somehow the tension was completely off. So i kept ending up with a tangled massive mess of yarn. It was too ugly to document.

Somehow I managed to get it right and I put in a half hour of plying. Once I get the current bobbin filled I’ll take more pictures. Even though I’ve already got 3 shawls/stoles on the needles, I might even start knitting it up!

Of course I also have a sock on the needles. Of course I do. I’m almost finished with the first sock and although it can be rather dull to show the first sock followed by a finished pair. After all, once you’ve seen the first sock, you’ve basically seen the pair. I thought I’d share it anyway.

I’m using Regia Bamboo, color no. 1064. I picked up this yarn when Woodland Woolworks had that fabulous 20% off sale awhile back. This yarn is absolutely delicious. It just flows off the needles and through my hands.

This is such a busy yarn, I wanted to choose a pattern that was simple and streamlined so I chose the Slipped Stitch Rib from the book Sensational Knitted Socks. I just love love love the texture it creates. Combine it with the silky feel of the yarn and you have a winning combination.

All of this makes me want to exclusively knit this project, but I want to savor this experience and enjoy the process. So I dole out the time I have with it, like you would ration the pieces of a box of good chocolates. At least I would. ;-)

Quincy is also luxuriating in the simple joys of life.
