I finished the Hidcote Garden Shawl yesterday. I was so excited I blocked it immediately after getting it off the needles.

Pattern: Hidcote Garden Shawl by Miriam Felton

Needles: size 3US Crystal Palace Bamboo

This was so much fun to knit. Despite my bitching, I enjoyed every single minute every it. Even the purl rows! I did experience some confusion with a couple of the symbols. The knit stitch on the wrong side rows is a dot. The centered double decrease is a bigger dot. My poor eyes got them mixed up and I started to do CDD’s on the purl side rows. I quickly learned that was the wrong thing to do, but I was sorely tried by the confusion for awhile there.

The shawl is gigantic and it will surely envelope my 5’2″ frame in a complete embrace. I can’t wait for it to dry! And just maybe I’ll be able to get better pictures. No promises though!
In the meantime, I have started the Forest Path Stole. It had a bit of a rough start. I dutifully cast on and knit the 20 rows of seed stitch. Then as I worked the next row, my stitch count was way off. I must have had a moment of dyslexia as I had cast on 114 stitches instead of the prescribed 141 stitches. I felt like such a dunce! So I’ll try again today and see where it takes me. I should be able to count properly this time.
Thanks for all the wonderful suggestions as to what to do with the Misty Jaywalkers. I’m going to try Robbyn’s suggestion and do some decreases around the ankle area. I just hope I’ll still be able to get it over my instep! I’ll be working on them at the Aloha Knitters meeting tomorrow night.
