Stash Enhancement and Sweater Dreams

Posted under meanderings & stash & sweaters

I had a great time at the Aloha Knitters meeting tonight. Barb and Kai both brought assorted goodies to trade and to give away. There was yarn and there were lots of magazines!

I got 2 skeins of Alpaca from Barb, which I’ll photograph when the light is better. I also got a copy of Vogue Knitting to peruse and a skein of hot pink cotton, (I forgot the name of the yarn because I forgot to write it down), that I’ll probably use to make a some sort of stuffie. I could have taken home a lot more but I had just spent the day with a friend cleaning out the detritus of my assorted abandoned hobbies in my closet and I just didn’t want to start the cycle again.

Veronica, who is sadly blogless, showed up with her lovely penguin in tow. Doesn’t he look about ready to start tap dancing in the new tradition of Happy Feet?

Sweater Plans
While I was at the meeting I worked on my Secret Project and tried the feel of the yarn* around my neck as I knitted. It was soft and not too heavy for indoor air-conditioned wear, so I’m considering buying enough to make the Knitting Pure & Simple Neckdown V-necked Shaped Cardigan. I’m just not sure what colour to make it in. I have some time to decide since I have quite a few projects on the go.

I still haven’t touched my mother’s purple tank top and the thing is taunting me from it’s plastic baggie. I just want it to be over with, because I’m starting to get nightmares about it. In my head, I’ve started to refer to it as The Purple Thing, which is a shame because I love the yarn it’s in and I love purple. I just need a swift kick in the rear.

I’d really like to finish the Secret Project first though. I need priorities! I can’t be flitting from one project to the next. Otherwise it feels like I get absolutely nothing done and then I lose my mind and interest in all of the projects in progress. Not good! I’m no good as a butterfly. I do much better as a worker bee.

So the plan is to watch Pride & Prejudice tomorrow and get the Secret Project done, then work on The Purple Thing. That’s the plan. When was the last time things when according to plans?

Cool Sites
The new issue of Yarnival! is out and if you’re interested in the Sweater Curse, then Kate A. wrote a nice article called The Exception The Proves The Rule. It’s a really sweet story.

For you lace knitters out there that have yet to get Victorian Lace Today, Grumperina wrote a really great review.

And last, but not least, Wendy M. wrote an interesting post on spinning Wu. That post inspired me to dust off my wheel and start spinning again. Only instead of spinning yarn, I now think of myself as spinning empty or wu.
