Diamond Fantasy Shawl - In Progress

Posted under Uncategorized

Diamond Fantasy Shawl by Sivia Harding.  Here’s what I’ve done so far with the Diamond Fantasy Shawl. It’s on hold right now as I’m working on the Shetland Lace Shawl. This is a very easy pattern to follow. Just make sure that your brain isn’t so fevered that it might insert YO’s where there are none. I’m using Jaggerspun Zephyr in Plum with size 5US Bryspun Flexible Circular Needles. The join on these needles isn’t as smooth as I’d like. My little laceweight stitches tend to get caught in them. I put up with this because the needles themselves are very comfortable and lightweight. We all make sacrifices in life. :-P Posted by Picasa

So Many Shrugs

Posted under Uncategorized

I found a page with oodles of Shrug patterns. I’d really like to make one for myself. I started one last year but I lost it. Needles and all! It’s still a complete mystery as to where it went to. We’ll probably never know.

I finished the first side of edging for the Shetland Lace Shawl. It looks like this is going to be a really monster shawl. First you knit the edging then you pick up the stitches for the shawl along the straight edge of the edging. Then you knit one triangle section of the shawl. Then you repeat 3 more times. Maybe I’ll be happy with just one section. I doubt it though. I was planning on using this one as more of a throw. Pictures forthcoming.

A new project: Shetland Lace Shawl

Posted under Uncategorized

The beginnings of the Shetland Lace Shawl.  It doesn’t look like much but I’m proud that I’ve gotten this far. This is the first repeat of the edging. The yarn is Cloud from Knit Picks in the color Redwood Forest. The pattern is Shetland Lace from A Gathering Of Lace. This is the first knitted lace in the sense that every row is patterned versus a lace knitted fabric that has a plain row of knitting after every patterned row. I’m knitting this shawl with a knit-along on the Knitted Lace Mailing List. This is the first knit-along that I’ve been a part of where I’m actually doing the project! What a milestone. Let’s hope I can finish it too! Posted by Picasa

Handwriting software?

Posted under Uncategorized

I found this very cool article on a new handwriting analysis software. I would love to know how successful this ends up being and I can’t wait to hear about the results of the testing. From what little I’ve read in fictional crime books, handwriting analysis is an extremely delicate business and it’s more of an art then an exact science. I decided to do more investigation and came across this article which has really raised more questions then answers about graphology and forensic handwriting analysis. Most of the other websites that I’ve found have basically been on graphology, which seems to be less of a science then a fortune telling prop.

I wonder if The Gannon Technologies Group will publish their findings and how extensive their publishing might be.

Peacock Feathers.

Posted under Uncategorized

I finally took some pictures of my finished Peacock Feathers Shawl. Unfortunately I couldn’t find anything to lay it on top of that didn’t distract from the shawl so it’s lying on top of a ratty carpet.

This is the bottom edge of the shawl. I really like the design detail that the edging has.

The yarn I used for this shawl was Jaggerspun Zephyr in Jade. I used a size 5 US or 3.75nmm needle. Posted by Picasa
