Mystery Shawl #3, Summer Into Fall

I started this shawl with the Emily Ocker’s Cast-On and it was a lot easier then I thought it would be thanks to those great directions. I hope to finish this by June so I can start the Mystery Shawl #4. Fun fun! Posted by Picasa

New Fiddlesticks Shawl

If you haven’t seen the new Fiddlesticks shawl, you must run to it! I think it’s just gorgeous and I can’t wait to get it. This is just about my favorite designer because her charts are so fabulous.

Whoopsie! (comments from readers)

Posted under Uncategorized

Cookie and I are very sorry for any inconvenience our lack of understanding has caused.

I didn’t know I needed to take action to have some comments published. So .. uhm whoopsie! I’m sorry! If you have been seeing your comments published immediately then could you please let me know? opal@akamaiNOSPAMknitter.com

Please accept my apologies and my thanks for the wonderful compliments. Heehee. I would like to just say that the shawls I make aren’t beautiful because of any effort on my part. The only thing I’ve done is follow directions. As far as the Peacock Feathers Shawl goes, that really wasn’t hard to do. The directions for that shawl is just so wonderful and easy that it wasn’t much of a hardship for me. :D

The Zephyr yarn that I used is a 50% Silk/50% wool blend that is absolutely a treat to work with. The drape on that yarn is incredible and the high silk content makes it an absolute must to work with in humid weather. I think it might be one of the only yarns I can use during hot and humid weather. I haven’t tried cotton for shawls yet though so that’s another thought. I’m just not sure how cotton would drape.

I do have a linen blend yarn but I have no idea who manufactures it so if I like it I wouldn’t be able to get more. There’s no label and I got it in a trade so long ago I’m not even sure where I met the person I traded with.

I’m almost finished binding off for the Diamond Fantasy Shawlette. I hope to have pictures sometime today! Posted by Picasa

Lyra

Posted under Uncategorized

The Lyra is on sale now at eBay. I adore this pattern but it’s just too pricey. I think I may have bought it when it was in print. I just need to find it. The price on this pattern is giving me incentive to get off my behind and find it instead of hoping to just have one delivered to me. :)

The rest of my projects are moving slowly. I’ve given up on the Shetland Lace Shawl. It’s just too much work for something that I’m not really all that crazy about in the first place. So I started the Kilmanjaro Kat Shawl with the same yarn. I’m going to use it more as a throw then a shawl though. It’s a very simple pattern so far with clear and concise directions.

I should finish the Diamond Fantasy Shawl this weekend. I just have to tink back a row before I start again.

I’ll try and take some pictures later too!

Tempted by another…

Posted under Uncategorized

I happened across this pattern of theMountain Peaks Shawl and I just want to buy it and start right away. What’s worse is that I do have enough yarn to start on this today if I like. But I *MUSN’t*.

What happened to my resolve of doing one project at a time? Out the window apparently. But this doesn’t mean I can start whatever I like. I must be strong.

I think this is more of a knit along fever then a new shawl type of fever. I also discovered a Frost Flowers and Leaves Knit Along and I desperately want to make this shawl. I just don’t have the yarn or the means to get the yarn for awhile. It calls for over 3,000 yards so I plan on buying a cone of Jaggerspun Zephyr. That will put a big dent in my wallet.

On another note, I realized that I started picking up stitches too soon on my SLS edging. So off to the frog pound I go. I only picked up about 120 sts. Not a problem. Really. *bleurk!* Which is why I’m sitting here mooning over other shawls instead…
