In order to get to my friend’s house at 9am this morning, I got up at 6:30am. I had a few things that I needed to get done and I just need some alone time before I head out the door. I need coffee time, ya know?

Turns out our morning date got pushed back to lunchtime.

So I got up at that ungodly hour for nothing.

Well, maybe not for nothing. I’ve got some photos of earrings ready for listing and look! I’m blogging!

Here are the earrings I’m going to list in the Etsy shop sometime this weekend.

I did indeed ply on that day of indecision and I have yarn to show for it. Unfortunately, I’m too lazy to get off my arse and photograph the two skeins.

As for the Tour de Fleece? I’m still spinning. After the plying, I spun up a skein of singles. Then I started another batch of singles yesterday. I only got 2 ounces done so today I’ll be working on the rest of the 2 ounces.

I’m trying to do a low-twist single. My feet/legs don’t like to treadle slowly on the wheel so this project is taking a lot more time, patience, and concentration then my other projects.

I can show you the fiber I’m spinning.(“Rainforest” from Hungry For Handspun. 100% South African Fine)

I didn’t make it to the vampire movie. I had too many things to do and my tummy was upset. I did manage to get my prescription for my medication later that day though. So things are much better now. Thanks for all the well wishes!

Other then that, I’ve been working on custom orders, but they’re all pieces in styles you’ve seen before. So instead I’ll regale you with a hibiscus growing out on my lanai. It’s not the best picture in the world, but it’s better then yet -another- picture of a cat.

Have a great weekend, everyone! I’m so ready for a nap!

Nasty vog.

Things have been a bit crazy around here and I’ve gotten a little bit behind on things. I forgot to post about the bracelet I made during a Wire Play Day studio at The Bead Gallery that I took about two weeks ago.

It’s called Donuts and Danishes and it’s designed by Jamie Yoshida.

I wanted to antique the bracelet, but my mother stole it from me. It looks like I’ll have to make another for myself. I’ll definitely antique the second one, because I think it looks beautiful that way. You can see Jamie’s antiqued version here.

Now if I could just get the wire mojo going so I can actually make the thing.

My mojo has been seriously impaired, you see. The vog has been thick and nasty the past few days and it looks like it won’t be going away anytime soon. It could be worse, but it’s also been humid and hot.

Here’s a photo of what it was like yesterday.

All that haze is playing havoc with my sinuses and I had a screaming headache last night. Fingers crossed that it doesn’t come back.

There hasn’t been much knitting going on.  Neither has there been much spinning. One thing that I have been doing is a lot of seed bead work. Those little things are addictive.

It’s a good thing I have a ginormous stash of them. But, just like any other stash, I seem to always find myself missing one or two or three colors that I absolutely must have. Since I started up again with this hobby to use up what I have, all these new acquisitions are seriously defeating the purpose.

My coffee machine broke this morning. I had a Pepsi instead. Really not the same thing. At least I don’t have a caffeine headache.

So I think I need to try and keep a low profile today and hold back my cranky self from the rest of the world.

My plans are to play with more beads, turn up the air conditioning, watch my favorite serial killer, and snorgle the cuddly Sammy.

Happy Wednesday, folks.

Flashback!

Last week, a few of my friends and I got together for coffee and lunch. The local Starbucks was really crowded and the only table we could snag was way in the back next to the blenders and coffee machines. It was a little hard to hear each other over the noise. As you can see in the pictures, the lighting also sucked.

Kim is on the left knitting away on her Februaray Lady Sweater, while Joy is doing mystical things with her phone when she should have been working on her Garter Yoke Sweater.

The lovely Barb worked on her Two Hearts sweater which she has since finished.

Eventually we all got hungry, so we went to BluWater Grill for lunch. The food there is amazing and it’s only about 5 minutes away from my house.  You’d think with it being so close I’d have been there more often, but this was only my third time there in the 5 years it’s been open.

I ordered the fried fish sandwich.

It was fabulous and so were the fries.

In other news, we can sleep better at night now that Castle and Dollhouse has been renewed for second seasons.* At least that’s the scoop according to one source. Another source isn’t so optimistic about Dollhouse, but it seems more then one site is saying the same thing about Castle. Yay!

Bones was a little strange, but overall I kind of enjoyed it. Of course I missed the couple of minutes of the show. My stupid DVR didn’t catch it all and I haven’t gotten around to seeing it on Hulu. Evil DVR.

The last 10 minutes of Grey’s Anatomy made me cry. Evil Shonda Rhimes with her evil cliff hangers. Even though I knew something like this was on the horizon, I’m still dying to know who’s going to be back for the next season and who’s not.

Look! I took a picture of the sky! On a Saturday! Isn’t it boring?

I hope you’re all having a great weekend! Go Magic! Go Rockets! Woot!

*Or at least I can. :P

On Sunday the Honolulu Academy of Arts had a family event and they invited us Aloha Knitters to demonstrate and display our wares.  I took along a few of my shawls and my spinning wheel made its first public appearance with me.

Dorothy and Veronica also brought along their wheels and we became a sort of row of spinning wheel soldiers. (I’m supposed to be in the middle.)

May brought along her fabulous mutant bunny.

Teri brought her lovely afghan squares.

Patrice brought her gorgeous freeform crocheted pieces.

You can tell by the happy faces the demo was a success.

Despite grabby hands and parents that insisted we were spinning cotton, I had a really good time. I hope the Aloha Knitters get a chance to do more of these types of events. If you’d like to read more about it, the lovely Acornbud took some pictures of her own. I might even be in one of them.

I have a lot more catching up to do, but I think I’ll save that up for another day. I gotta ration out the blog fodder. ;-)

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Thanks for reading!

I was also able to make some progress on the second sock. All while running errands and hitting the multiple doctor appointments I had.

I love.. mojitos. I ordered one while at my favorite Italian restaurant this past Saturday. I’m not sure it matched the food, but it was delicious.

I love… lasagna. Especially the one at the restaurant Bravo. Too bad I’m rarely in that neck of the woods.

I love.. Cookie. She’s inspired me to start knitting my Springtime Shawl again. I may only get a row or two done a day, but that’s better then nothing at all. I only have to finish the current repeat to get to the edging.

I love.. all the new charms I got in this week. I’ll probably be drowning in stitch markers this week, as will the shop.

I love… rainbows. I haven’t seen too many of them this year due to the lack of rain clouds we’ve been experiencing. So I was lucky to capture this one on the drive home on Saturday.

Can you believe I didn’t mention spinning? That’s because my Suzie Pro has been squeaking lately. The squeak really disrupted any thoughts of peaceful spinning time this weekend. I bought some bike oil for it yesterday and it seems to have banished the squeak. So far so good at least. I remain skeptical, yet I harbor a secret hope.

Happy Tuesday, everyone! I hope your day/night is squeak free!
