Last week, a few of my friends and I got together for coffee and lunch. The local Starbucks was really crowded and the only table we could snag was way in the back next to the blenders and coffee machines. It was a little hard to hear each other over the noise. As you can see in the pictures, the lighting also sucked.

Kim is on the left knitting away on her Februaray Lady Sweater, while Joy is doing mystical things with her phone when she should have been working on her Garter Yoke Sweater.

The lovely Barb worked on her Two Hearts sweater which she has since finished.

Eventually we all got hungry, so we went to BluWater Grill for lunch. The food there is amazing and it’s only about 5 minutes away from my house.  You’d think with it being so close I’d have been there more often, but this was only my third time there in the 5 years it’s been open.

I ordered the fried fish sandwich.

It was fabulous and so were the fries.

In other news, we can sleep better at night now that Castle and Dollhouse has been renewed for second seasons.* At least that’s the scoop according to one source. Another source isn’t so optimistic about Dollhouse, but it seems more then one site is saying the same thing about Castle. Yay!

Bones was a little strange, but overall I kind of enjoyed it. Of course I missed the couple of minutes of the show. My stupid DVR didn’t catch it all and I haven’t gotten around to seeing it on Hulu. Evil DVR.

The last 10 minutes of Grey’s Anatomy made me cry. Evil Shonda Rhimes with her evil cliff hangers. Even though I knew something like this was on the horizon, I’m still dying to know who’s going to be back for the next season and who’s not.

Look! I took a picture of the sky! On a Saturday! Isn’t it boring?

I hope you’re all having a great weekend! Go Magic! Go Rockets! Woot!

*Or at least I can. :P

Spoiled.

In the past week, I received two unexpected packages in the mail. The first package was from Lori and it was a late birthday present. My birthday in in October, but as Lori said in the card, “better late then never!”

She sent me three gorgeous batts from Enchanted Knoll Farm in the Margarita colorway.

The other box was from Lisa and it was so chock full of goodness I couldn’t fit it all in one shot. The woman obviously knows my fixation with all things Hello Kitty.

Do you see the little blue ball? It’s a felt ball! It’s the cutest thing. It has a little sheepie on it and it can be used as a keychain or as a stitch marker holder. My love for it rivals the Hello Kitty swag.

And she didn’t stop there. Lisa also included the most gorgeous Blue Face Leicester roving from Yarn Hallow in the Seattle colorway. The colors are perfect!

There might have also been a box of the most delicious Dutch cookies ever, but you can’t prove it by me.

Thank you Lisa and Lori! The two of you really know how to spoil a girl. :)

Happy Wednesday! I hope you all get a chance to spoil yourselves.

This past weekend was a whirlwind of activity for me and it’s left me feeling quite wrung out. It was worth it though!

On Saturday, I got together with my beading friends for lunch then crafting time. Despite spending most of my time ooh’ing and aah’ing over everyone’s show and tell, I managed to make a pair of earrings. Only I can’t show them to you because when I went to my class on Sunday, Jamie and Jason asked me if they could use them as a store display. (squee!)

After class on Sunday, I went to Joy‘s house for some knitting time.  Kim was there as well and we all indulged in sushi, rice pudding (homemade!), and hurricane popcorn.  Hurricane popcorn has popcorn, furikake, and mochi crunch/arare. It’s really good!

Getting together with good friends in a quiet, tranquil setting was exactly what I needed to recharge my creative batteries.  I didn’t realized how chained I’d been to the spinning wheel. It was good to do something different for a change.

Like a good blogger, I took quite a few pictures and so did blogless Elaine. Instead of bombarding you with big shot after big shot, I offer you a mosaic.

I mentioned that I took a class on Sunday. It was the Big Wire 101 class at The Bead Gallery and I’d been waiting to take that class for months! Boy was it ever worth the wait. Jamie, the part owner of the shop, was the teacher and she is a wire goddess. (She’s been working with wire for at least 12 years, so I truly think she deserves the title ‘goddess’.)

My brain is just over-flowing with different ideas on how to put all these little geegaws together. If only I could find the time! I have a couple of custom orders to do and I also need to ply these before I can really start playing.

At the same time, I need to try and rest and be gentle with myself as my Fibromyalgia has decided to flare up. I guess it’s no wonder with the hectic schedule I put myself through over the weekend. It may not seem hectic to you, but my body is just not up to that strenuous a schedule.

Luckily, I have a buddy to cuddle up with when I’m in bed. Remember this guy? He hasn’t had much face time on the blog lately, but I managed to take a few shots of him last night. Thus the pictures aren’t that great.

Happy Tuesday, everyone! I may post my first FO of 2009 tomorrow! Whee!
