Where has this week gone? Monday and Tuesday seemed to just evaporate. Wednesday I was busy with blogless Dayna getting my eyebrows done.
I bought an Anastasia kit to get myself started, but Dayna was really the one who did all the work. The only thing I did was pick the stencil. I was terrified I’d get carried away with the plucking and end up hairless above the eyes.
I think Dayna did a pretty good job!
Now that I’ve sufficiently weirded you out with my eyebrows, I shall dazzle you with the shiny.
That’s right! I made three bracelets over the weekend! I couldn’t stop myself. All of the bracelets are in 16 gauge wire.
I made the first bracelet at the Wire Play Day Studio at The Bead Gallery. It actually took a couple of studio sessions to finish because it was that labor intensive. I think all the work was worth it in the end though. It just feels good to wear something you’ve made down to the very last bit. Well.. except for the beads and the headpins. :P
Although I really love this bracelet, I’m thinking of antiquing it. What do you think?
The next bracelet was much easier.
This is a project from Easy Wire 2008 and it was much easier to do. The thing that took the longest was hammering the links.
I used a chasing hammer on every other link and another texturing hammer I call “raw silk” on the other links to give the bracelet a different look. It took some time, but I do love to hammer. Talk about stress relief. ;-)
The next bracelet is also from Easy Wire 2008, but I changed the design just a little by adding some lampwork beads.
If you look closely at the beads, you can see they have a bit of swirl inside them that match the links. I didn’t buy the beads to match the bracelet. I actually had them in my stash. I think they were simply waiting for me to make this piece. :)
Sammy has officially been stunned by the shiny.
Happy Thursday, everyone! Coming up…. yarn.

Nice eyebrows! When waxing, I’m always tempted to remove everything and start over. o.O
Bracelet love! They’re all lovely, but I totally love that one.
Happy Thursday!

Oooh eyebrows look great!
I say antique it, it will be so pretty, it already is. I think that first one is my fave of them all. Nice job!

I like the how delicate the second bracelet seems next to the first.
Plus, the kitty looks comfy and sleepy. I wish I could get in on some of that action.

Pretty bracelets! Nice eyebrows too!

LMFAO @ Cookie’s comment. Gawd I need a wax…
The bracelets are FANTASTIC. I wouldn’t antique the first one, myself. Sigh. So pretty…

Wxquisite eyebrows and bracelets, Opal! I wouldn’t dare use a kit… get mine done at the same place that gives me a pedicure :)

You make the most amazing jewelry! Your bracelets are stunning. I am in awe of the incredible amount of work involved with each piece. Sammy is a cute little sunbather.

March 26th, 2009 at 2:34 pm
OH, I love those bracelets! I think they would look awesome antiqued!
March 26th, 2009 at 3:14 pm
I LOVE that second bracelet. The hammered parts are beautiful.
Wouldn’t you love to be able to relax as completely as a cat?

Good job on the brows – they came out really nice.
And the bling? Out of this world. Too bad it appears to have done a number on Sammie!

The bracelets are awesome! The eyebrows look great. Thanks for the cute lollipop. I love it.

So, do strangers stop you on the street now for your eyebrows? Well done.
The bracelets are beautiful. How exactly will antiquing change the bracelet? Does it just add a patina?

I always keep meaning to do something about my eyebrows, but I’m always too lazy. Yours look great!
The bracelets are just breathtaking!
March 27th, 2009 at 1:59 am
So pretty! (You and the jewelry both, of course.) I’d antique that first bracelet, but it’s fab regardless. :)

Awww, kitty tummy needs a rub!
I had to look up eyebrow stencils, never heard of them. I love brow gel, but it makes me break out, unfortunately!
The bracelets are all wonderful. : )

Opal all of those are gorgeous! I especially love the one with flowers. And, even though I like antiqued jewelry, I don’t think you should antique it. It looks great the way it is. I think antiquing it would take away from it a bit. But that might just be me.
(Shiny is good ;-])

You did a nice job on the eyebrows… and the bracelets are wonderful.
March 27th, 2009 at 6:47 am
those bracelets are gorgeous!!
March 27th, 2009 at 8:58 am
I love the bracelets! I love the shiny, so I’m not sure about the antiquing. Is the little flower on there already antiqued?
They are all beautiful. And Sammie is getting huge!!!
Eyebrows are gorgeous! Not too much, but enough. I, on the other hand, am stuck with Brooke Shields’ eyebrows… ;)
March 27th, 2009 at 4:25 pm
Ok..the eyebrows turned out really well, and I’d have been worried I’d end up hairless, too, so you’re not alone!
Those bracelets are fabulous! I’m especially fond of the last one, of course – what pretty lampwork beads!
(((Hugs)))

Pretty metal work! I always end up with crookedness when I go at the eyebrows…I usually looked shocked for a couple of days but then it grows in/wears off ;op
April 4th, 2009 at 7:56 am
LOVE your bracelets especially the squared one with the flowers :)
