it is finished.
Pattern: February Lady Sweater (Ravelry)

Needles: 6US/4.0mm
Size: L
Date Started: February 1, 2009
Date Finished: February 20, 2009

what can i say about this sweater? there’s a reason why over 4,000 people have decided to knit it. it’s fabulous. fun to knit and fun to wear. what more could you ask for?
yes, i still haven’t attached the buttons. yes, i wore it out without said buttons. i swear i’ll do it tonight and maybe i’ll even have modeled shots on friday!
i think this would be a good project for those just venturing into lace, because the stitch pattern is very simple and easy to memorize. just the way i like it. :)
the sweater does run a bit on the large size. if you noticed, i knit the large. that was mainly due to my gauge. i’m normally a 2X, so dropping to a large was quite dramatic. even the large is a little baggy for me.
i could not, for the life of me, get my camera to cooperate and get an accurate rendering of the color of this yarn. bleh! the above photo was the closest i could get.
there’s been a lot more knitting being done around here since i haven’t been spinning. my knee is feeling a lot better. i’m really tempted to spend a little time at the wheel. i’m trying to hold off, but i did experiment a little with it last night and i treadled the wheel with no fiber for about 5 minutes. the knee held up well. things are looking up!
happy tuesday, folks! i mean wednesday.
yeah.
it’s been that kind of day.

Your February Lady Sweater is gorgeous!!! I printed out the pattern and I am wondering what yarn I should use. Seeing yours completed is very inspiring. I am very glad to hear that your knee is doing better as I know you have lots of spinning you would like to do.

Absolutely lovely! But don’t strain yuur knee, ok?
February 25th, 2009 at 2:01 pm
Whoops. I mean your knee, not yuur knee :(
February 25th, 2009 at 2:11 pm
I love the sweater!! You did a wonderful job, friend! Many hugs for you!
February 25th, 2009 at 2:16 pm
The sweater is gorgeous! Take it easy on the knee, though. I’d hate for it to get worse.
February 25th, 2009 at 2:58 pm
You made one too! I’m thinking I may have to hop on the bandwagon and make one also, although I’m fairly busty so I’m a little weary about the small yoke. Hmm.
Lovely job, as always. I hope your knee is up to par! ;-)

It’s beautiful!! The color is fabulous!
February 25th, 2009 at 3:59 pm
Opal, this is absolutely beautiful! I’ve been iffy on this pattern, but after seeing yours, I think I want to make it. Gorgeous!
February 25th, 2009 at 3:59 pm
Yay! I hope that’s a good sign and you’ll be spinning in no time. Love the sweater and can’t wait to see it on!

Very pretty.
I just bought the wool today to make that same pattern. I think I’m only going to do two buttons. I have some metal flamingo buttons, but I only have two.
I’m using black Wool-Ease until I’m sure I like knitting sweaters. If I like this one, I’ll buy a better yarn for the second one.
Did you have any issues at all? I’m kind of up in the air on sizing. I wear a large sweater usually, but if it runs big, I guess I’ll have to adjust down.
February 25th, 2009 at 4:13 pm
Very pretty color anyways! Nice job! :)
February 25th, 2009 at 5:02 pm
Ooooh! That’s next on my to-knit list!! Thanks for the info about it running on the large side. Can’t wait! Yours is a lovely color.
February 25th, 2009 at 6:06 pm
Very nice!
February 25th, 2009 at 10:38 pm
I’ll bet it’s a color that looks terrific on you, too! Awaiting the modeled shots and wondering what buttons you might choose…
February 25th, 2009 at 11:32 pm
Looks great! Can’t wait to see the buttons you choose!

She is gorgeous. I hope you get a chance to play with the wheel soon.

Lovely sweater, Opal! I love the color, accurate rendering or not. I can just see you in blue. Perfect! Another excellent FO. I remember when you decided to tackle your first sweater. You’ve come a long way, Baby!
February 26th, 2009 at 2:37 am
Very, very pretty! Enjoy wearing it!!
February 26th, 2009 at 3:10 am
Beautiful job, Opal!
February 26th, 2009 at 3:24 am
It looks wonderful! I hope we can see how it looks on you. : )

That sweater is lovely! I need a new springy type of sweater, so I printed the pattern. I can do it while I watch television in the evenings. You are a great inspiration to me! Glad to hear that your knee is getting better. Take care!

I threw mine (cotton) into the washer and it is now in the right size. I love wearing this sweater … casual but very presentable and comfortable.
February 26th, 2009 at 7:47 am
It looks wonderful! I’m doing the large too, and will be happy if it ends up being a Extra Large or a 1X even. My gauge is also pretty loose (which is strange because my crocheting is VERY tight!) :)
Now I want to see what the buttons look like! I’m still not sure what buttons to get for mine.

Fabulous!
Did it grow during the blocking? Are you letting your knee rest? I hope so.
Happy Thursday!

Oh, super color. I have some variegated purple cotton that I would love to try this pattern in. Only I think that the variegation and the lace would be too much. Thoughts?
February 26th, 2009 at 9:33 am
A large is still large? Oh. I better rethink my own!!
:)
Your’s is GORGEOUS. I wish it were that color purple *wink* – but navy is really good, too!
SO glad to hear your knee feels better!!!
(((hugs)))

i love how it turned out – can’t wait for the modeled shot! hope you’re takin’ care of your knees….

It turned out so lovely!
February 26th, 2009 at 4:41 pm
how pretty!! it looks awesome. :)
February 26th, 2009 at 4:47 pm
Wow! Awesome sweater!
And how is it that you are knitting more sweaters that me, yet you’re in Hawaii? Heehee.
February 26th, 2009 at 7:49 pm
The sweater is lovely!
Keep doing what is best for you!
xo
February 26th, 2009 at 10:24 pm
It came out wonderfully I really like the color.
February 27th, 2009 at 4:47 am
Beautiful – really, really lovely. Since I also tend to your described size range, would you recommend sizing this down…if I were to make it? I generally like things somewhat loose and don’t want them to fit too soon :)
Despite the fact thqat everybody and their aunt has either made or is making this, I still think I might give it a try :)
February 28th, 2009 at 12:24 pm
Crap! The sweater runs large?! I missed that. I’ve cast on for the XXL and knit about 3 in. I normally take a 2X also. Double crap. I’ll just have to give it a go. Did your’s grow very much with washing/blocking?
Patons Classic is a great yarn. I knit a ginormous aran sweater for DH, the only way we could afford it was by using Paton’s. The project took 18 balls of yarn. I love the navy color, your sweater looks great!
February 28th, 2009 at 1:18 pm
It’s just wonderful – it was a fun knit and you’re right – it does run a big large, but it suits the style. Can’t wait to see it with the buttons.

The socks are gorgeous! And I love the colors on your cats belly. The browns are in my favorite shade….

Ooh, very pretty. It’s just the right kind of cardigan: just a couple of buttons at the top. I have that in my queue, myself.
