Good news!

I saw the doctor yesterday and he diagnosed me with good ol’ fashioned bursitis. He treated me with a shot in the knee and while I’m very tender right now, he said that after a couple of days of rest I could slowly start spinning again! I was so terrified that he was going to tell me what I really needed to do was completely rest my knees for 6 weeks.  So this isn’t just good news, this is great news!

To celebrate, why don’t I throw more handspun at you.

I don’t think I need to tell you that I’m really itching to get back to the wheel. I think the next two days are going to go by at a snail’s pace. Luckily, I’m at the sleeves of the FLS. Hopefully the thought of finishing that will distract me.

I’ve also been busy bending wire. Hopefully I’ll have something to show for it next time. Right now, what I have done is spinning in the rock tumbler.

As far as my half hour spinning experiment?  Well, I didn’t quite stick to the half hour, but I only exceeded the half hour by fifteen minutes. So I don’t think I did too badly. :)

BTW, does anyone else watch American Idol? Or am I the only one thus making me the one who just admitted to watching “trash” TV…  :P

Go Danny! Go Michael!

Okay, I’m going to go hide my face now. :)

Happy Wednesday, folks. May the force be with you.

Your poor little bursas (bursi?), it is good news that you’ll be able to spin again so soon.

Well, bursitis ain’t no fun, but it’s sure better than a lot of other things :) You rest up and leave that knee rest for a while.

I don’t watch American Idol, but I do read romance novels – does that count? Heheh…

  6. April Says:

That’s great news that your knee is relatively okay. Having to hold off on making pretty yarn would suck.

  7. Becky Says:

I’m glad it wasn’t serious! I have NEVER seen an episode of American Idol. I don’t really want to. But I do watch The Apprentice. Love it.

  8. Roseann Says:

I am thrilled to hear your wonderful news about your knee. I see you just keep the pretty yarn coming. I do not watch Idol, but I confess to Hell’s Kitchen and Sober House.

  9. Stacey (just Stacey) Says:

I used to get these anti inflammatory shots in my hips and shoulders… if it’s a similar thing, you’ll feel AWESOME in a day or two. :D Good thing there was no spinning restriction. xoxo

  10. Stardust B. Says:

Sending positive thoughts to your knee. And yes, I’ve been watching Idol too. I’m a reality junky. Sober House, Real Housewives, and Top Chef are the ones I never miss.

Oooh, knee problems stink. I hope yours go away soon.

  14. Sarah Says:

This is the happiest I have ever been to hear someone is suffering from bursitis. I’m so sorry for the pain, and hope you are feeling better soon. You are so right about having other hobbies to help make it through. I had to set a timer to help me stick to the limited spinning time.
    xo

Glad that you will only be away from spinning for a short time, though be careful with those knees!

    That yarn is beautiful.

Ah those steriod shots are wonderful help for bursitis!!! You’ll be up and at ‘em in no time!
LOVELY yarns…and btw, since I’m a news junkie, I can admit I do NOT watch Am Idol.
    (((hugs)))

  30. Agnes Says:

My husband is still watching … while I totally give up on this show, so I retreated into the kitchen and made dinner. I was simply put off when they put Norman Gentle and Tatianna(?) in the top 36 while cutting Jamar(?).

  31. nova Says:

You are killing me with the spinning. You are spinning the most gorgeous yarn, Opal.

  32. Sue J. Says:

So glad your knee is doing better, Opal. The hardest thing I fight with my wrist in knowing when to stop and not overdo. I mean, I could knit all afternoon and not feel any pain until I stop. It’s so nice that you have so many and varied skills-jewelry, spinning, knitting, crochet. Talented? Yup!

  33. Jeanne Says:

So glad that you figured out what is wrong with your knee, and I’m hoping that its already feeling better. Gorgeous yarn – how do you do it?

And I have to admit – we started watching Idol last year during the writers strike and are hooked.

  34. JessaLu Says:

Beautiful handspun! I’m so glad your knee is getting better!
