Last night I indulged in more jewelry making while watching a recorded basketball game and came up with my first finished object for 2009. Yeah, I really know how to party. ;-)
I’ve had this design floating around in my head for awhile now. I made something similar awhile back and I knew I wanted to do something like it again, but I wanted to add something more to it. The briolettes seemed like a perfect match!
The design isn’t all that original, but I’m still pleased with the results. I love the colors and I’m probably going to have to make another pair so I can put one up in the shop and keep one for myself.
Once the earrings were finished, my mother and I had our traditional portions of zenzai or red bean soup. It’s something I look forward to every year. So we had a very quiet celebration.
For 2009, the only real resolution I’ve made is to get my hair styled. With the exception of the homemade dye jobs, it’s been over a year since I’ve had anything done with it. I’m getting mighty weary of constantly putting it back in a ponytail.
I’m weird about haircuts though. I don’t have a stylist I trust and I’m afraid whoever I go to is going to royally screw it up. I also can’t stand having a person hovering around me with a scissors and fussing over me. I keep wanting to shoo him/her away by yelling “Don’t Touch Me!” Plus scissors can be very menacing.
Told you I was weird.
Sammy and the rest of the boys wish you all a prosperous New Year! I do too. :)

Opal, those earrings are lovelier than anything I have ever seen in a jewelry store. I am speechless.
Hey, we slept through New Year’s. And good riddance to 2008, I say!

those are definite keepers! in fact, my friend wants me to help her with wirewrapping briolettes! i always worry about chipping the crystal or precious stone. i can relate to the hair thing – i always come home and fix up what’s been done, just monday i snipped the left side to reshape – there’s something about my left side, seems to have more hair or something….

oooo…love the purple!
I’m the same way about haircuts. I can only stand so much fussing and then I start wishing the stylist would finish already.
I could NEVER sit still long enough for a dye job, highlights or a perm. YIKES!
Cute Sammy — Happy New Year… we celebrated about as strenuously. I knitted.

They are beautiful!
My resolution is to get new glasses, which I desperately need, but I hate going to the eye doctor.

Lovely earrings. Happy New Year Opal!
Are you sure you’re not Cookie’s long lost twin? O.o

Oh, those earrings are so gorgeous! Good way to ‘party’! I know what you mean about hair stylists! I hate going too. I always get home and look in the mirror and wonder why I had it done! I have heard that the difference between a good haircut and a bad haircut is two weeks! Hair grows back, so have it cut and then let it grow again if you don’t like it. I have an appointment for Saturday at 2:30pm. I’ll be thinking of you!

That pair of earrings is gorgeous! You are getting better and better with your jewelry making!
I don’t have any hair style at all … just lazy … lazy looking for someone I trust, lazy keeping a style … besides my hair is kind of hopeless in being stylish! LOL! Wish you luck with your 09 resolution.

Lovely earrings — I’m a purple freak so those hit all the buttons!

That picture of Sammy is snorgle-worthy!
Pretty, pretty earrings, love the purple goodness!
I used to have a wonderful stylist that I could just let her decide what to do with my hair. But she moved away (this is 15 years ago). It took me a long time to recover, and I still don’t have a regular person. I find that it helps if you bring a picture of the hairstyle you want. Good luck! : )

Purdy earrings! Love the color.
Our exciting NYE celebration involved channel surfing and my knitting a sock, so no worries.
Happy 2009!

Do I really need to even say how beautiful those earrings are!
I don’t like stylists either; I thought it was just me.

Gorgeous earrings! Good luck with the hair thing. I haven’t had a professional touch mine in well over a year at this point. I’m not sure what I want done so I just don’t go!
Happy New Year!

OMG, I am SO loving those purple earrings. You’re shocked, I know. The funky pearls are way cool. Glad you had fun with your mini-spin-in. Wish I could’ve been there.
Hope you make it back this way in May.
