I have many opportunities over this past weekend to knit not only at home, but in public. The fruits of my labor are a completed pair of socks.
Pattern: my own 64 st 2×2 rib
Yarn: Universal Ditto; Color No. 4813
Needles: Size US1 / 2.25mm
Started: October 20, 2008
Finished: December 6, 2008
Although I like the colors, I’m not much of a Ditto fan. The yarn is rather scratchy and it’s also splitty. I do like the way it stripes. I don’t often get a nice stripe on self-striping yarn and I don’t like it when yarn pools.
I knit these socks for Kai because she likes handknit socks. Not as a birthday present or as Christmas present. This is a “because you’re my friend and you don’t have enough handknit socks and I need to not knit anymore socks for me” present.
Next on my needles are more socks for yet another friend. He picked out some Harry Potter sock yarn in the Ron colorway. I decided to change things up and do a 3×1 rib instead of my boring 2×2 rib. The reason they look small for a guy is because it’s not for him.
So, yes. Hard to believe, but I’m still knitting. :-)
Happy Wednesday everyone!

Where have you been?!
Nice socks.
I know exactly what you mean about the socks for other people. How many pairs do we need? o.0
Love the kitty legs, too.
xo

I do believe those socks match the cat! LOL
The Harry Potter socks are quite festive looking.

Handsome socks! I do so hate splitty yarn, though. And Ron is looking a lot better than the guy in the movies :)

Beautiful socks! I appreciate the warning about Ditto. I have heard of the Opal Harry Potters series but had not seen any before, that is a very cute pattern. Is that Sam batting your feet?

Love the socks! I’m on an orange binge. I may have to seek out Ron yarn. I’m liking the ones you have in progress a lot!
And I like those kitteh legs, too. He’s a Snaggett! ( A family word applied to cats who like to reach out and claw something (or someone).
Smoochies to all at your house!

All the socks be lookin’ good!
Sammie gonna get into trouble if he keeps playing with the socks ;-)

Good to know about the yarn; I don’t like scratchy or splitty. I’ll have to look into gettin’ me some of that Harry Potter colorway though.

Ooo, you’re just a sock knittin’ machine, aren’t you?
Didja hear about Pacman Jones? When that guy jerked him out of the pileup after he’d muffed that punt, he ruptured at least one disc in his neck, maybe two. He is out for the season. This is getting ridiculous.

Wish I had a finished pair of socks, not much knitting time here! :)

looks like the kitty wants a pair of socks too. :D Sexy kitty ankles… mmmm I think I have a new kitty crush.
Happy Wednesday!

I’m liking that Ron colour. It’s interesting that you’d have a friend pick out a colour and then make them for someone else. :-)
One of these days you should really wild and try some 6×2 rib.

Love the kitten action in the first shot! And Harry Potter yarn? Oh my gawd, I think I must get some. Though maybe not in, uh, Weasley. :) (It looks like it is behaving so far too! Brava!)

Very nice socks! I like that Ron colorway, totally is him!

I kind of figure, once a knitter, always a knitter :) It may not always be the major thing we do, but it remains an essetial part of our repertoire.
I hadn’t known that Opal did a Harry Poter line. That’s pretty nifty yarn!

Love the socks. Sammy does too! He thinks you made them especially for him! Glad you are still able to knit. It’s good therapy.

Very nice socks! After the Christmas knitting is done, I’m going to cast on a nice boring pair of socks for myself!
December 11th, 2008 at 10:04 am
The socks look great! I especially love the orangey colors in the Harry Potter sock yarn. Very cool. You surely are still knitting! :)

How many pair of socks does one need? As many as one cares to knit!
:)
But I’m starting to knit some for others, too….
Your’s look great (but I can’t stand scratchy sock yarn so the first, while pretty isn’t going on my wishlist!)
*wink*
(((((hugs)))))

Cozy!

Very nice socks! Wow! I didn’t know there was Harry Potter sock yarn! How fun!
December 11th, 2008 at 2:36 pm
Changed up both your patterning and who gets the yarn they picked out, eh? Good for you. Both of those variegated yarns look really good knit up. That’s not always the case so pretty darn cool. I really like Kai’s socks colorway.
December 11th, 2008 at 8:31 pm
What a soggy day, eh? Nice day for knitting. Kai is lucky to get such nice socks!
December 12th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
Those are great socks!
December 13th, 2008 at 3:52 am
Great socks! I love the colorway of the Ditto yarn – but I agree – I’m not a fan of it. I do like the colorway of the HP socks too – maybe I should try it…
December 15th, 2008 at 1:08 pm
Hey, Kai’s socks match your cat :)
December 15th, 2008 at 4:41 pm
Aw, Sammy-colored socks! Happy accident? I think your friend will adore them :)
December 19th, 2008 at 6:45 am
Nice socks! I haven’t seen the harry potter colors yet. That one is pretty cool!

They fit PERFECTLY. SO HAPPY!
