Fiberlicious Friday

I had a birthday last month and I was blessed with many fibery treats from a couple of very good friends.

Not only did Megan give me some gorgeous French Angora to play with, but she also made me a very special Romney batt.

Then Jen gave me three different braids! That’s right! Three!

Gaia and Butterscotch

On the left there’s Rambouillet and on the right there’s Merino.  I’ve already thrown the third braid on the wheel. I forgot to take a picture of it while it was braided, so here it is in a ball.

And here it is on the wheel.

I’m spinning it up into a 2-ply laceweight yarn. I’m thinking it might make a nice Honeybee Stole. We shall have to see how it looks once it’s plied.

All this fiber has really helped me get my spinning mojo back in gear, but I still found time to make another amigurumi toy.

She came out looking a lot different than the original pattern due to the fact that I used different eyes. This was not by design, I just didn’t have the eyes called for in the pattern. So instead of a pure devil, I have a cat/devil type thing.

I also left out the mouth, because I just couldn’t figure out what would be an appropriate type of mouth. I think she looks fine without one, but what say you?

Finally, I want to thank everyone who expressed their concern over my silly statement in my last post. I’m going through a rough patch, but I’m more then positive it’ll pass. Especially with all the good friends I’ve made in the blogosphere. :))

Happy Friday, everyone! Have a fantabulous weekend!

Your cat is adorable–he doesn’t need a mouth. And The red angora is almost delicious enough to eat.

    Happy Birthday!

You have such a lovely energy I wonder if your rough patches are you way to help others in the future by sharing what you have been through. Gorgeous rovings!!! I have put my spinning aside for too long and your vibrant blog is a gentle reminder to get back to my wheel.

Ohhh – that Butterscotch braid is making me drool – what lovely, warm, yummy looking stuff. Does it say bad things about me that it makes me hungry? Hmmm…

IMO, your little devil baby there is *way* more appealing than the original. I definitely like the eyes and also that they are placed wider apart on your creation – lends a sort of innocence to what is usually taken as a sly (if not downright evil) kind of charcater :)

I don’t think it needs a mouth; it looks fine just as it is.

  15. Carolyn Says:

Your yarn is gorgeous. Happy Belated !!!

  16. Sarah Says:

I think that would be a gorgeous Honeybee Stole.

That romney batt is gorgeous (and I am so not a pink person). Love the little cat devil! If you change your mind about making mouth (I think it looks fine as is) I’ve got some tiny Sculpy fangs you can have.

What wonderful gifts! You do such great work with it. :)

  20. Jane Says:

So glad you are starting to feel better and getting out of that slump. You spinning is looking good and the She devil cat looks just fine with no mouth. The mud pie would really look good as a honeybee shawl. Happy belated birthday!

I love the little she-devil cat – the eyes are perfect, but that’s just my (every so humble, ha!) opinion. ;)

I’ve passed along an award to you on my blog, just in case you need more proof that I lurve you!

And I know. There are times we hate life. But the positives outweigh the negatives every day…really, they do.
