I’m still spinning.

In between all the jewelry and toy making, I managed to finish spinning this

into another 3-ply sock yarn.

I’m not sure how I feel about this yarn. I think I should have Navajo plied it.  Maybe it’s just not to my taste, because I do know there’s one person in the world who likes it, but I think she’s biased. What with being my best friend and all.

Or it could be because I’m hating life right now. That might be clouding my judgment. ;-)

At least there are these to make me happy. There’s nothing like proclaiming what you love on your ears! :-D

Happy Wednesday, everyone! I’m off to spin something more satisfying to my senses.

I am not biased, Cauldron rocks. It’s very pretty. I have some love going on for the earrings too :)

  2. fleegle Says:

Well, I like it too…so there! It’s another variety of Black Opal yarn. The earrings are cute too!

  3. Cookie Says:

I like it, too. Maybe for a scarf or mittens. I may be socked out at this point.

Why are you hating life right now? Who do I need to kill for you? You should not be hating life. People, yes. Life, not so much.

    xo

  4. Karen B. Says:

Ditto what Cookie said. Granted, some days, it’s hard to find the nugget of joy but those are the days you hug your Mom and gaze at your feline tribe and say, “There’s tomorrow. And my spinning.’

  5. Dee Says:

I’m not your best friend and I think the yarn is lovely also. You did a beautiful job.

    Cute earrings!

  6. Meredith Says:

That yarn is GORGEOUS! It will make terrific socks or a scarf, so there! Try not to hate life…Ditto to what Cookie and Karen have said. But there a times you just have to live through a bad patch to get to the other side. And see! Cookie has volunteered to be hit man (oops, woman), so you have support going on in a lot of ways! I, for example, send you hugs, kisses and healing thoughts. I’m not up to being hit woman tonight.

  7. Becky Says:

Ooooo, that yarn is beautiful! Love the earrings, too.

So, I’m sorry to hear that you’re hating life right now. I won’t pry, but you must know that I’m here for you.

  8. Jeanne Says:

Gorgeous yarn – and the earrings are too cute!

  9. Chery Says:

I love your yarn. I don’t do dangle-y earrings, however they are really cute.

  10. Stacey (just Stacey) Says:

It is lovely. Maybe not your favorite colors, but it is kind of witchy. :D

  11. Carrie K Says:

I’ll pry. It’s what I’m best at. Why are you hating life?

But that yarn and those darling spinning wheel earrings are fabulous.

  12. Dave Says:

I think it looks wonderful, and wow, what great yardage!!

And I’ll echo what all those other people said, changing it slightly to: Don’t hate life — hate a situation. We all know that situations change, sometimes when you least expect them to and in ways you might least expect. I won’t let other people make me use negative energy in hating them; I’d rather feel sorry for them for being so (ignorant, rude, whatever – take your pick.)

  13. Kim Says:

I love that yarn. Purple and green are my favorite colors. What’s going on in your life right now? Is someone being mean to you? Hope you’re feeling okay, physically…

I find these days of shortening daylight to be kind of debilitating. It’s gonna get darker before we get more daylength, though. sigh.

Oh yeah, in answer to your Clapotis question of some days ago, yes, I’d love to do a mini KAL, but could we start it January 1? I just need some time to slog thru my existing UFO’s. If I start Clapper now, I’d get sucked into the magnetic pull of the Noro and the dropped stitches and I’d never crawl out. As it is, I’m holding it up as my reward for knitting through the darkest days of winter. Sort of a fiber-y carrot on stick thing.

Oh yeah, and another thing. Knitting that damn Icarus is like eating Abalone. It gets bigger, the more you chew it. Doesn’t taste bad, but nothing changes either. I guess that’s a reasonable option to “looks like a big pile of ass”. Ass or Abalone? What do you want sitting in your lap as you knit away?

Be happy Opal. I’m pulling for ya. See you thursday?

  14. tiennie Says:

That’s pretty! I hope you’re not hating life for long. I hope all is well with you. :)

  15. Hetty Says:

You’re hating life? That’s one heck of a loaded sentence in the middle of all that wonderful creative stuff! Hope it’s not the Fibro. Try not to let it get you down, whatever it is. Keep spinning. And making those earrings. They’re great!

  16. Barb Says:

Love the yarn! what’s up? Hopefully things perk up for you soon. Maybe more wire classes will help:)

  17. bockstark.knits Says:

Holy mother of god, 695 yards????!!! And a 3ply??!!! Geezus! That is incredible yardage and I think it’s gorgeous! I’m sure you will change your mind once it’s knitted up! :)

  18. Robbyn Says:

Sounds like you’re still not feeling well (hating life?) and I’m real sorry to hear thatand truly hoping things perk up again soon.

I do like your sock yarn though purples and greens aren’t usually colors I would put together – still I think the Cauldron blending is quite attractive. Not to metnion the unutterably appropriate name :)

The spinning wheel earrings are adorable – now, hows about making some with sheep? Or knitting needles? Heheh…

  19. Megan S. Says:

You already know that I love the yarn!! It would be really sweet for a child’s scarf, or even some nifty baby items! Babies can me chic too ;-)

Spin on, sistah friend! Wear those earings with pride!

  20. Alison Says:

I really like it, too! (Of course, I like most things with any purple. Although bright orange and purple could very well be a turnoff.)

  21. midgeling Says:

You just amaze me with all the beautiful things that you create. I have always been partial to purple and green together. about 14 years ago I made my baby sister a purple and green quilt. Everyone commented on how they loved the colors together.

  22. Jessica Says:

Gorgeous spinning! Not my colors, but I can certainly appreciate the work that went into that yarn. :)

*Trying to ignore spinning wheel earing that would go with my stitch markers* ;)

  23. Hattie Says:

Oooh I was wondering how that roving would spin up, nice!

  24. Roseann Says:

I love your yarn!!! Navaho plying might not make the best sock yarn, according to Judith MacKenzie. She said something about it being weaker than a regular 3-ply and socks need to have strong yarn. What darling earrings, they are too cute.

  25. May Says:

When life stinks there’s nothing like bitching to your home girls to make things better. Cookies help too but they can’t assure you that, no, you’re not crazy, its the world that’s crazy. Hope things get better.

  26. hakucho Says:

I think your sock yarn is very pretty!

  27. Daniele Says:

I love the green and purple together. It’s great.

and I wish I still wore earrings – I would love to have those as well!

  28. Sarah Says:

    Beautiful!
