In between the making of critters and cat toys, I’ve managed to squeeze in some time at the wheel here and there. As you can see, my love for 3-ply yarn has not abated.
That’s been washed, whacked, and is now drying outside. Next I’ll be plying, plying, plying.
I’ve also been doing some beading. I recreated some earrings I made awhile back and threw them on the shop.
So far I seem to be juggling my varied hobbies in a somewhat competent manner, but I feel rather scattered. I much prefer to focus on one thing at a time. I’m still searching for a better way to manage my many interests in a more stress free fashion.
Maybe what I need to do is designate each hobby to a specific day of the week. Only that seems rather too structured for my carefree ways.
Suggestions are welcome. :)
Sammy suggests I kick back and go with the flow.
Happy Friday everyone! Have a fantastic weekend! May it be filled with Pumpkin Spice Lattes.

Sammy has the right idea!

Put all your hobbies in a bag and pull one out each day. That way you get to do them in a different order each week.

Oh my. I don’t know what to admire first! The earrings are stunning! The yarn is magnificent! Sammy is adorable! Just keep on keeping on!

I love your three-ply….. I’m working on some singles to be 3-plied.
The cat knows best - go with the flow.

Hooray for 3 ply! :) And those earrings are gorgeous too. I’m not normally a fan of dangling earrings, but those are just lovely!

That 3-ply is gorgeous!
I’m hoping my weekend is filled with pumpkin spice lattes too! :-)
Sammy certainly has the right idea.

Beautiful! You know which singles I love, right?
You have three hobbies and three times of day, right? Morning, afternoon, and night. Maybe you can work it out that way.
Love the earrings and that Sammy!

So you already know I am in love with Summer Meadow ;-)
Sammy’s definitely kick back and relax! You’ve been busy
October 3rd, 2008 at 6:58 pm
Look at all the beautiful colors! The Summer Meadows came out great!
I tried delegating one week to each hobby and it lasted for …. one week! My brain is like yours — it just wants to work on one thing at a time! :)

Yummy stuff, as per usual. :-)
What’s wrong with just doing what you feel like doing unless there is something that absolutely must get done, like a gift? It’s hobbies; they’re for fun.

Gorgeous spinning - as always. I think Sammy is right - go with what you want when you want….
October 4th, 2008 at 1:42 am
Summer meadows is beautiful! I need to work on my spinning. We need to all be more like Sammy.

Well, since I work in a cafe, lattes it will be. As for your hobbies, do what feels good. I can’t fathom all those people who don’t have any.
October 4th, 2008 at 2:40 am
Oh, why do we have to have such similar color palettes? It just makes me want to go out and get more fiber. Must go to your etsy store now….

I tend to be an rather unstructured crafter too, going with whatever takes my fancy at the time. I often, experience the feeling, as you described of wanting things to be a bit more orderly - but the minute I try to impose order on them, I lose all interest.
In fact, I’ve been (more or less) doing one project at a time for a while now and let me tell you, that’s really getting old! I’ve got to get 10 or 12 more things started :) They won’t all get finished, of course, but the working of those that *do* make it to completion will be much happier!
Sammy and Jade would get along well - when they weren’t fighting for the sunny spot :)

Yeah I say go with the flow too, that’s what I do, and just try not to feel pressured by all I’ve got goin on. LOVE those earrings…
October 4th, 2008 at 5:27 am
Mmm — that yarn is gorgeous. I wish I could spin as beautifully. And make jewelry. It’s hard to balance everything, isn’t it!
October 4th, 2008 at 10:04 am
I’m with Sammy…just go with the flow :) Enjoy !!

I am amazed at your spinning and jewelry talents. I know what you mean about feeling scatters, I am struggling with that right now too as I have added some winter hat and mitten projects for my nephews to my stash. I look forward to seeing the fruits of all your plying.

I call this the “well balanced blog post”. It has gorgeous spinning, pretty jewelry and a cute kitty! What more could you want?
October 6th, 2008 at 4:17 am
I say… go with the flow. Do what you want, when you want. I think you get more done when you’re doing what you want. And it might lead to a bit more creativity. :D
Lovely handspun. I can’t decide if I like the pinks or the greens better.
Happy Monday Opal.
(sorry if this double posts I’m on satellite with a rainstorm. UGH)
October 6th, 2008 at 7:51 am
The handspun is so pretty! You know, I just work out whatever I feel like when I feel like it (or when a deadline is coming up).
October 6th, 2008 at 6:50 pm
Your yarn is so pretty! So is the kitty and the jewelry!
October 7th, 2008 at 5:07 am
Your spinning and beading are both gorgeous! I think I need to wipe the drool off the keyboard. ;) Good luck finding a balance. It definitely be tough, but I vote for go with the flow! :)

I agree with Sammy - if you structure creativity too much, you smother it!
(((Hugs)))

Pretty handspun - and pretty earrings! :o)
