So much to see, so much to do.

Posted under Hawai'i & KIP & spinning

On Sunday the Honolulu Academy of Arts had a family event and they invited us Aloha Knitters to demonstrate and display our wares.  I took along a few of my shawls and my spinning wheel made its first public appearance with me.

Dorothy and Veronica also brought along their wheels and we became a sort of row of spinning wheel soldiers. (I’m supposed to be in the middle.)

May brought along her fabulous mutant bunny.

Teri brought her lovely afghan squares.

Patrice brought her gorgeous freeform crocheted pieces.

You can tell by the happy faces the demo was a success.

Despite grabby hands and parents that insisted we were spinning cotton, I had a really good time. I hope the Aloha Knitters get a chance to do more of these types of events. If you’d like to read more about it, the lovely Acornbud took some pictures of her own. I might even be in one of them.

I have a lot more catching up to do, but I think I’ll save that up for another day. I gotta ration out the blog fodder. ;-)

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Thanks for reading!

Wow, I need a group like that. Don’t you hate when those visiting won’t take your word on what you’re using? :)

What a great event! It’s nice to see your Lendrum there…I haven’t decided yet if I’ll drag mine to the Ravelry Outpost at Taos Wool Festival yet or not. I am thinking it will stay home so I can roam free and spend uku-pile of dollars.

I’m glad the day was a success…everyone looks so happy…even if they are spinning COTTON.

    hugsssssss

I know, dude- cotton. I was about ready to smack a few people and rip their grabby hands off!

But I had a great time overall. It was really nice getting to see everyone and spin in the open air.

Looks like it was really fun! I hope to do something like that too one day. I almost spun at the fair, but I didn’t have the time…

  24. nova on 24 Sep 2008 at 7:50 am #

Wouldn’t you know whether you were spinning cotton or not? It looks like a really fun day!

  25. tiennie on 24 Sep 2008 at 12:04 pm #

Glad it was fun! Fabulous mutant bunny - how awesome!

  26. Jeanne on 24 Sep 2008 at 2:42 pm #

    Sounds like a fun event!

  27. Sarah on 24 Sep 2008 at 5:32 pm #

That is the way to do one of those events. I wonder how I would fare with the grabby people. I can handle the ones who are sure they know more about what I am doing. I may have a couple of opportunities to demo knitting and spinning, and I might just give it a go.

  28. Agnes on 25 Sep 2008 at 9:53 am #

Wow! That freeform crocheted afghan is just gorgeous! amazing!

  29. textillian on 25 Sep 2008 at 2:19 pm #

Demonstrating our crafts for the public can be fun. (Of course, sometimes it can be a PITA, but let’s focus on the positive.)

Glad you had a great time!
