I had a very low-key weekend. I watched a couple of baseball games and a movie. The movie, White Noise 2: The Light, was pretty good. I love me some Nathan Fillion and it was interesting to see Katee Sackhoff in role other then Starbuck of Battlestar Galactica.
I also plied my ass off. I ended up with three semi-finished projects. (I still need to wash and set the twist.)
The first yarn was spun from an alpaca, silk, and merino blend roving I got from Lori’s shop, From The Wool Room. Despite its tendency to shed all over the place (I hear this is the nature of silk), it was heavenly to spin! It’s so soft too. This is a simple 2-ply yarn.
I’m choosing to call the second yarn Deep Sea Diving because it reminds me of the ocean’s colors when it’s far from the coastline. I got this braid from MDSW and it’s by Spirit Trail Fiberworks. It’s a 100% Merino 3-ply. I think Merino has to be my most favorite fiber to spin.
We have more Merino for the finale. This time by C*eye*ber Fiber. I’m calling this one Purple Fog. It’s also a 3-ply fingering weight yarn.
Now that these are done, I can concentrate on my Ravelympics spinning. I’ll be showing you all what’s on the wheel a little later this week.
But now is the time to unveil the winner of the contest.
*drum roll*
Hattie of Stitch Therapy
Because Hattie was the only one to get all them all right I decided to do a consolation prize. So I did a random drawing of everyone who entered and the consolation prize goes to:
Julie of Ozark Knitting!
I’ll be contacting you both for more information on how to get your stitch markers to you.
Thanks so much to everyone who participated. I think I’ll hold more contests in the future, only I won’t make them so tricksy.
I’d also like to thank everyone for the get well wishes. I’m slowly getting better. The muscle relaxants help, but they turn me into a first class space cadet. Not that I wasn’t one already, but I think I’m making less sense then I normally do. I suppose coherency is overrated?
Happy Monday everyone! Be well.

Great stuff! You’ve been busy. I love Nathan Fillion too. I have a secret crush on him. I watched Serenity yesterday morning when it came on at 6 am. Have you seen Waitress? He is good in that film too. Well, enough gushing before I start plotting how to leave my husband and 2.75 kids for Nathan. Congrats to the winners!

I just love the first one. Although, they are all lovely.
Congrats to the winners!
Is it Friday yet?

Congratulations winners!
Nice yarn Opal! The purple fog is a DREAM. Now stop playing around and get to your Ravelympics project!!
I hope that you are on the mend, friend! Coherency is definitely overrated. I feel no need to hide the fact that most of the time, I’m not coherent, either.
I kind of enjoy it that way! I consider it part of my charm, and it also keeps away the idiots of the world!

Damn, I didn’t win!!! Ah well! Love the handspun – they are all gorgeous!

Happy Monday Opal.

Hooray for random drawings and consolation prizes! Now I suppose I should go update the blog in case anyone actually visits. Thank you! I think I figured out which one I got wrong…
August 11th, 2008 at 12:57 pm
Yay! It’s cuz I stalk you. ;)
August 11th, 2008 at 12:59 pm
Coherency? What’s that?
The yarns look fantastic. I’m glad you’re feeling better, hope it speeds along and the pain stays away for a good long time!

Oohh… you best back of my Nathan. He’s mine. :)

Mystery! Mystery! How can she get everything right? Are you sure she didn’t sneak into your house during the night? LOL!
The Spring Bouquet is so beautiful!

Nathan Filion is nice. Of course the twisted me always kinda preferred Jayne on Firefly. The plying is purty. It seems to be the unpleasant part of the spinning process, til you see what you actually have.
I have never seen Katie Sackhoff on anything but BSG, but I am a big fan of the Starbuck character, in spite of, or more probably because of her obvious flaws.

I love the purple one! They’re all lovely. I hope you get to feeling better soon. =)

Ok, I just want to pet the first one; and the last one is very pretty. But the one from the Spirit Trail roving? I covet. Oh, how I wished I got that one (as well.)

I only have one question.
If you plied your ass off, what are you sitting on now?!?!?
The yarns are fabulous – I think the Spring Bouquet is my favorite. Delicate and lovely :)

What beautiful yarns and a lovely variety of colors! You are a spinning machine. I’m on my second bobbin of Lori’s alpaca/silk/merino fiber and will be making a 2-ply yarn, too.

Last Monday? Where have I been all week? Your yarns are just so beautiful! I love the shading in Deep Sea diving and the color blends in Spring Bouquet.
Katee Sackhoff was the best thing in The Bionic Woman last season. She was just so crazy, and not in a Starbucks way either.
