Step Away From The Blues ( And a contest.)

Posted under miscellaneous

Several people have asked me if I’m in a blue mood. I didn’t think this was the case until I took a long hard look at what’s been arriving at my doorstep.

Fiber Mosaic

Fiber Mosaic

You can see that for the most part there are little bits of blue in nearly every single colorway there.

For awhile there I was making a conscious effort to step away from the blues. Only I wondered if there was really a need. After all, there’s enough variation in what I’ve got up there so that there’s no chance of my becoming monotonous. I think this is just another case of following your bliss.

I can’t figure out a way to segue into the contest gracefully, so I’ll just dive in. I’ve already spun some of the above fiber into yarn. To win the contest all you need to do is guess which ones have been spun up. If you click the mosaic, you’ll go to my Flickr page.

Just leave a comment on this post by midnight eastern, Sunday August 10th. I’ll pull a random name from whoever has the correct answer.

The prize? A free set of stitch markers. You can see some examples here.

Hints may be given in the posts to follow. I’m not sure if that will happen as I’m not sure how difficult this is for you all yet. :)

Happy hump day everyone! Follow your bliss!

ETA: Thank you to Patrick and Sallee for pointing out the fact that this contest shouldn’t last till July 10th, 2009.  I have edited the post to reflect that the contest will end August 10th. :-)

Oooh, I know you spun the berry pie one, and queen mermaid, I think also the pastel silk one, and possibly the bottom right one, and the top right too, I think that was the one you did for the swap?

No worries, blue is a great color!

I can’t even begin to guess, but I am thinking you need some bright reds there.

  4. Cheekyredhead on 06 Aug 2008 at 12:25 pm #

    I think it’s numbers 6, 7, & 8 !

  5. Megan S. on 06 Aug 2008 at 1:06 pm #

Ack! I guess 7, 1, and 8. I want to add in there, that I’m having a hard time chosing between 1 and 6… I should know the answer and now I feel like a putz.

    Pinks and browns!!

Blues are pretty! I can’t get enough of them. Erm… you make my head ’splode trying to think. I’ll have to get back to you when it’s cooler and my brain has solidified.

OH, they are beautiful. I especially like the one in the lower right corner. I”ll make that my guess.

Ooh, I’m jealous of your recent acquisitions! I couldn’t begin to guess which one you started on, but I would have started on #4. :)

It’s hard to guess, but is “All Spun Up” the name of the fiber? If not, I’d say that one is all spun up … hahaha … they are all in lovely colourways!

  11. bockstark.knits on 06 Aug 2008 at 10:50 pm #

    I’m going to guess #3, #7, and #8!

  12. textillian on 07 Aug 2008 at 1:30 am #

    August 10th, right?

Nothing wrong with sticking with blue, but I might be the wrong one to take advice from on this….

I agree it must be Aug 10.
I’m thinking the C*eye*ber Fiber. And the Berry Pie?

Your bliss my have you spinning the blues, but what a wonderful variety it has led you to!

I love the berry pie, water lilies and macaw, but I am going to guess that you spun macaw. Good luck to everyone guessing!

Enjoy the spinning of it all - I am not even going to guess. So glad you are busy spinning.

It’s August already? I’ve got to bop over to your shop.

  17. Carrie K on 07 Aug 2008 at 12:38 pm #

    Too late, too late!! Waaaaa.

  18. Julie on 07 Aug 2008 at 4:37 pm #

    You’ve been busy! I think you’ve spun #3, 6, 7, 8, and 9

The yarn from #3 surprised me — didn’t look as grey as the roving.

  19. Aim on 07 Aug 2008 at 11:26 pm #

Those are some delicious looking blues! You are really a spinning dervish these days!!! I’m getting inspired :)

  20. Jeanne on 08 Aug 2008 at 2:05 am #

Knowing how fast you spin, you’ve probably spun it all up! Gorgeous roving - but I agree - you need some red.

  21. Patricia on 09 Aug 2008 at 2:26 am #

I’ll guess the blue/purply ones, that would be 2 and 7. I am so wanting to take the spinning plunge the yarn you spin is down right gorgeous.

    #2, #6, #7 and #8. I think. :-) Pretty pretty things!
