Now that I’m back home, I feel I need to take stock of all the projects I started with reckless abandon during my long vacation.
First up is a shrug I started with Pedicure Shimmer in Pond. It’s designed by Carla who owns the yarn shop Delightful Ewe back in Altoona, PA.

The sparklies are actually sterling silver thread shot through the yarn. You’d think that would make the yarn scratchy, but it’s actually pretty soft.
Then there’s the Origami Cardi that I couldn’t resist starting. I’m using Berroco Comfort DK and I’ve already got the back and the two fronts done.

I’m a little nervous about whether or not this one will fit me. Most of the sweaters I’ve done have been raglan sweaters and this cardigan has a really unusual construction. So I’m a little insecure as to how the pieces will come together.
Now I had to also have a pair of socks on the needles. So while I was in Pennsylvania, I picked up some new sock yarn and started a pair of plain 2×2 ribbing for the plane ride back home. I managed to get one sock down and I’ve made a good start on the second.

These aren’t pretty socks. In fact, they look more like man socks, but I really like the yarn. So much that I bought more of it in another color. It’s a nice sturdy yarn that I think will wear well.
It doesn’t seem like I have too much on my plate when you look at these three projects, but when you look at these:

That’s when I start to feel really overwhelmed. I also have a feeling there are some other projects lurking in the wings that are completely forgotten and undocumented.
Let’s not even talk about how many spinning projects I have going on. We won’t even go there. Not today.
I think I’ll just reminisce over the beautiful grounds of the Mount Assisi Monastery and let the memories of all the beautiful wisteria cover me in tranquility.

P.S. I would probably get more done if I weren’t plurking all the time. It’s all Wendy J’s fault. I dare you to try it. ;-)

I love the origami cardi, and that color you picked is lovely.
Can’t wait to see how the sparkly shrug turns out too.

Oh, boy…lots of wonderful projects in the works!! I love the yarn with the SS running though it…lovely and not scratchy…that’s really nice :)

I sense a theme of “blue” here. I’ll have to keep that in mind.
I recognized the Japanese Feather Stole right away. What do you think of that project?
As for plurking, I have to admit that I don’t get it. If you enjoy it, that’s all that matters.

I love that first blue yarn! I’ve got some socks similar to what you are knitting there, only my yarn is Lang Jawoll. The colors and pattern are very similar, though. In fact, I’ve got them on right now! Are we kindred spirits, or what?

The cardi will be fine. If it’s not, blame the yarn, frog it and put it in time-out. And not all socks need to be pretty, lace and girlie. A nice sensible ribbed sock can go to a lot more places than a girlie sock can, ya know.
Plurking? Is this going to eat my day?

Ok, damn plurking, I keep hearing about it and now I’m gonna go see what the fuss is. The wisteria is Gorgeous!

Oh my–that shimmery blue sweater is fantastic! You are certainly keeping busy–boy, I only have two things on the needles. You’re making me feel guilty :(

What beautiful projects - I can’t wait to see your progress! I’m not going to look at the plurking thing - I want to finish my shawl!
Shell on 10 Jun 2008 at 4:03 pm #
Oh you are not so overwhelmed by projects yet. Let me see, can you also start some other things, I know you didn’t get any yarn to knit while here.
Glad you love the Schwab Estate Gardens.

AAAugghhh! I’ve been Plurked!! Addictive as can be, I can already tell…
The projects look great. You do know that projects started on vacation don’t count as “startitis,” right? They’re like… souvenirs that hold onto a bit of your travels for you as you knit and eventually use them. :)

Ooooh - I’m breaking out in a sweat seeing so many WIPs….Can I join you at the monastery?
chris on 11 Jun 2008 at 12:18 am #
You can do it all, I’m sure! That’s not too bad - unless you have just as many hidden projects that you forgot about - LOL!
What. is. Plurking.
Wendy on 11 Jun 2008 at 1:15 am #
No time to comment — I’m too busy plurking!

I’m in love with the wisteria (what a gorgeous photo that is!) - and those socks are cool - what’s the yarn?????
(I like that sort of “man” socks!)
I don’t “get” Plurking…
(((hugs)))

I REFUSE to plurk!!!!! I waste enough time as it is!!!!! I need to knit!
Love all your projects and am glad you are getting settled in again.
I’m starting “Laminaria” in some coral yarn I bought from Galina at Wool Festival a couple of years ago…in addition to blocking the Highland Triangle I just finished and Icarus (still lurking, unblocked, in a bag hanging on a door somewhere in the apartment) and finishing the Waving Lace socks (nearly there!) and a Clapotis that I was FORCED to cast on by my friend Laura, and, and and….
massive hugsssssssss

LOL! I love the title of this post … an avalanche of projects! I love the burnt orange colour of the sock … it’s lovely and you should finish it! :)
Carin on 11 Jun 2008 at 7:11 am #
Since I live in avalanche country, I have some advise.
When you are caught in an avalanche, you are to “swim” and go with the flow trying to keep your head up. Since you are an island girl, swimming should be a piece of cake for you.
Now how does this help with your knitting?… I haven’t a clue.
Your WIP’s are beautiful.

Gorgeous W.I.Ps! I agree about Plurking. I am totally addicted.
textillian on 12 Jun 2008 at 1:07 am #
Purdy! Ok. Deep breath in. Some of those projects you have already resolved to rip out, right?
Robbyn on 12 Jun 2008 at 3:46 am #
Sterling silver thread? Sounds incredibly decadent, but won’t it tarnish? The shrug is a glorious color and the silver enhances it nicely, doesn’t it?
The Origami sweater is one that I have eyed myself and the color is right on the money as far as my newfound resolution to pay attention to the rest of the spectrum goes :)
And your socks? Sometimes beauty lies in the utility and comfort and not in the “face”. If you love them, they’re beautiful.
And listen to me pontificate, willya…

The shawls are so gorgeous — actually all your WIPs are pretty awesome!
nova on 12 Jun 2008 at 11:02 am #
You are so productive! I can’t wait to see all of these projects finished!
Carrie K on 12 Jun 2008 at 3:08 pm #
But you need to have lots of projects on the needles, so you have one to fit all occasions.
And score! You got a nice package from Karen!
tiennie on 14 Jun 2008 at 10:07 pm #
Wonderful projects! I usually only have 1 project going at a time.
Jane on 22 Jun 2008 at 7:55 pm #
Holy cow! I thought I was the only one with so many projects going on at one time! All of them wonderful I might add.
