Posted under Pennsylvania & stash
On Wednesday Shelly took me out to The Knitter’s Underground and its new location. It’s located right on Molly’s farm.

Inside was a beautiful shop full of racks of gorgeous yarn.

Needless to say, I bought some yarn.

On the very top we have Brown Sheep Lamb’s Pride Worsted* in Onyx and Lotus Pink for the Pirate Queen Booty Bag.
In the middle, we have Frog Tree Alpaca Wool in fingering weight for the Shetland Triangle Shawl that I’m planning on making for my mother. (See? This yarn isn’t for me. It’s for my mother. It doesn’t count as stash!)
Finally, we have Trekking XXL in Color No. 105 and Trekking Pro Natura in Color No. 1506 because a shopping trip just isn’t complete without sock yarn.
Yarn wasn’t all I got either.

I picked up another copy of Barbara G. Walker’s Knitting From The Top, because I seem to have misplaced my own copy.
Then there’s the pattern The Brora Black Cobweb Shawl, which I consider my greatest find. I didn’t think I’d ever get my hands on this pattern. I’ve been coveting it for quite awhile too.
After our visit to the yarn store, we traveled on to Miller’s Hoagie’s. They have the best sandwiches I have ever tasted.

The sandwich has ham, bologna, hard salami, and provolone. The veggies consisted of lettuce, onions, and tomatoes. I declined on the hot peppers that day because my stomach was feeling a little iffy. As you can see, they put the meat on top. This made the sandwich a lot less sloppy then the hoagies I’m used to.

All in all, it was a wonderfully successful excursion. Thanks to Shelly for giving me such a fabulous time! Tomorrow there’s more fun planned, but none of it has much to do with fiber. This is actually a good thing for my wallet.
Still to come are the purchases I made from Delightful Ewe, the local yarn shop that I helped move. It seems every time I stop by I come away with more yarn. Carla, the yarn shop owner, has generously donated an extra suitcase or two for me to cart my purchases home with me. I’m sure she gave me the biggest suitcase she could find in order to urge me on in filling it up with all the yarn I can.
Have a great weekend and thanks so much for reading. :-)
*It’s late here so I took the lazy way out and linked most of my purchases to Ravelry. My apologies!

You have the best yarn crawls! The Knitters Underground looks like such fun and you scored BIG with patterns and yarn. Is your Bora Shawl the one by Gladys Amadro? I think I have it too but have not looked at it in a long time. Great find! It’s a hard one to get.

Mmm…hoagies! I’m actually a Philadelphia native (well, til I was 8 anyway ;) and indeed that state has the best Italian hoagies. If you like sweets pick up a few Tastykake pies too!

I am so glad you enjoyed that trip. I enjoy stopping at Millers Hoagies they really have great regular hoagies!
Don’t worry - Carla and I will help you fill that suitcase!

I wish I could have gone with you–it looks like a wonderful crawl! And I do like that Shetland shawl. Is that next on the list?

Nice! That shawl looks like a major project. I love the line “because a shopping trip just isn’t complete without sock yarn.” LOL!

You know - I would have been disappointed if there hadn’t been some sock yarn in that haul :) I am going to have to try the Trekking some day (thinking about Knitty’s “Fruit Loops”)
The Shetland shawl (lucky Mom!) is very pretty - and I almost think I can sort of figure it out from the picture. I’ve always been a little nervous about the fir cone stitch pattern because it scallops so seriously on the sides - and I’m not much of a blocker. But that tendency could be used to advantage…
Posting pictures of that sandwich was just evil - do you hear me girl? Evilevilevil… But there’s a nice little Greek pizza and sub shop up the street that I may just have to call upon for lunch today!

Wow! That yarn is great - and I’m envious of the cobweb stole pattern. I’ve never seen that before — I’m off to check it out.

The Knitter’s Underground!? That’s where I got my first drop spindle and fiber from (they mailed it to me - I was in AK at the time.) It’s good to see the inside.
That shawl is going to be spectacular.

I think you may need TWO suitcases soon! Ah — you can always leave your clothes behind and ship them home UPS.

More yarn! More yarn! Yeah! There is no such thing as too much yarn.

Cobweb shawl looks awesome! I’ve never seen that before.

What a beautiful square shawl!
Do you know what yarn you are going to use?
I like the the fact that the yarn racks in “The Knitter’s Underground” have wheels on them. It makes checkout easier.

I missed a yarn store in PA! Darn! That one looks fabulous. That Cobweb Shawl pattern is just beautiful.
Are you anywhere near Ligonier, PA? That’s where Kathy Zimmerman’s shop is. Well, when I was out there.

Wow! You’ve been doing a lot of shopping! That’s great … I love Trekking XXL; I got one ball recently and the colour is soooo gorgeous! And I envy so much the lace pattern you’ve got! It is such a beautiful challenge (it looks complicated)!

Well, now. Putting the meat on top like that makes a whole lot of sense! Wonder why I didn’t think of that.

OMG, this post I haven’t seen.
I think I could have used several days going in a yarnshop like that, how could you think about food…talking about food, I need to take care of the dinner…

I hope you’re feeling better today, Opal.
Lovely yarns. I’m looking forward to seeing your pirate bag. I’ve been pondering that one for a while.

Hah! Normally this post would have made me hungry but I just ate. So there. Take that. No, I’m not bitter that you’ve spent the past few weeks immersing yourself in yarn shops.

You do the best shopping, I so enjoy seeing your purchases. I was saying “ooh, Trekking” to myself. I look forward to seeing your mom’s shawl and hearing about the Frog Tree yarn. I’m guessing the Lamb’s Pride might be for felting. I’m glad you’ve worked out a way to bring your purchases back with you easily.
