It all starts with a couple of gadgets. First it’s the phone, because the decals are so pretty. And there was a limited selection. And.. and… well.
Then there’s headset. I bought it because it was the very last one of it’s kind in the store. That’s the truth! Pinky swear and everything.

After that comes the roving with the slightly interspersed bits of pink that hardly shows once its been spun.

But you know it’s there.
(I didn’t really notice the pink when I bought the roving. I was more attracted to the blue and brown combination that is now, hardy noticeable.)

Finally, there’s the yarn that was gifted to me over Christmas.

My friends know that I don’t care for pink. It’s not that pink is a bad color. Nor do I think that all people should ban pink from their color palettes in an effort to save my sanity. I even like pink in its own time and place. I would just never wear pink. Never. Ever.
Still certain people seem to think my world would be a better place if it had more pink in it. So while I’ve started knitting with said yarn, that doesn’t mean I’m going to be keeping the product for myself.
No. These socks(Ravelry link) are going to be gifted to a friend.

Not only that, the pink is being guarded by ferocious finger puppets.* Surely these little guys can stop the invasion.

Wish them luck. I have an insane urge to knit pink lace. Thank goodness I have no pink laceweight. I have absolutely no plans to acquire any. Pinky swear and everything.
Have a great weekend everyone!

OMG, I love your little alien dudes! They’re so cute! :)

Haha, see I love me some pink. Not too much though, I endure only limited amounts. But when used right…YES. Now I want to go dig out the bright pink eyeshadow I used to wear…
The socks look awesome in that yarn. ;)

I have a cone of bright pink cashmere/wool from Colourmart sitting right here next to my chair. What was I thinking? Spring Shawl Surprise – maybe….. Not too sure about the pink either.

I’m enjoying all your pink knitting, it is very pretty and makes me want to get out my Flower Power STR (http://kriscrafts.bradandkris.com/index.php?p=890) which I have not decided if I will like knitted up yet. I was thinking of Pomatomas for it which you kindly introduced me to.
I really like the pink in your handspun yarn. I took a class with Sasha Kagan and she taught us that colors we do not like can help enjoy the colors we do like more when we use both of them together in a project.

Loving the pink! Your handspun is gorgeous….and the finger puppets are too funny.
March 14th, 2008 at 2:32 pm
I have some extra pink laceweight that would go perfectly with everything you own…
March 14th, 2008 at 3:02 pm
I’ll have to look through Stephen’s old toy box. I think we may have several of those jelly-monsters from long ago.
Cute socks!
March 14th, 2008 at 3:33 pm
Ahh we pinkies are gonna get you yet! And then we will laugh…..bwahahahahahaha!
March 14th, 2008 at 3:55 pm
i’m not a pink person either, but somehow ended up knitting a pink sotsii anyway…
March 15th, 2008 at 3:32 am
Your little finger guy is too cute! I love the roving that was spun into such beautiful yarn! I love the colours – including the pink! The socks are nice too!
March 15th, 2008 at 4:07 am
Heh…I am such a pink person – that whole part of the spectrum really, from pale to deep and including the lavenders and periwinkles and royal yiolets on the next block :) However, i don’t feel the need to convert or proselytize because (like any other color) these only seem so attractive to my eye *in contrast* with all the other colors.
I can see how the thought of pink lace would partially panic you – the thought of green lace would do the same to me.
Pink lace….mmmmmmmmmm…

Wow! I have the same problem — except I have actually gone and knit pink lace! It’s still one of my least-favorites, though. I think it stems from my bright pink bedroom when I was a kid that I had for about 12 years!
March 15th, 2008 at 5:27 am
Those all look great. I used to have those puppets when I was a kid. I wonder what happened to them?
March 15th, 2008 at 6:33 am
I avoid pink too, but it manages to creep in somehow, doesn’t it?
March 15th, 2008 at 7:25 am
I love your pink and I think pink would look lovely with your coloring. You know I want to send you pink lace weight now, don’t you?
March 15th, 2008 at 2:07 pm
Pink – its coming for you!! Best hide – hide well!
March 15th, 2008 at 2:16 pm
Love the needle holder! Too cute.
March 15th, 2008 at 5:13 pm
Love the yarns! Socks look wonderful! What a nice friend! Cool phone & headset too!

May I?
The Lady in Pink
Me thinks
Pink is her favorite color
In which, she is
So elegantly dressed.
She is the grand dame, in
Pink Sweater,
Pink skirt,
Pink coat,
Pink hose,
Pale shoes
And pink pearls clipped in her
Perfectly coifed
Champagne colored hair
And diamonds in her smile.

I’m not a “pink” person either, but I want everything you posted about–especially the dpn holders!
March 16th, 2008 at 4:55 am
I just love the point protectors! Very clever. I also like pink, but please don’t hold it against me ;-)
March 16th, 2008 at 7:57 am
I had no idea that aliens would help you with holding your double pointed needles! Actually, I love pink but always feel guilty when I knit with it because I’m not that fem usually. Still, it’s almost Easter. You are allowed a few pastel colors!
March 16th, 2008 at 7:57 pm
i’m not considered a “pink” person, but i do love having little pink things around me – post-its, dangly earrings, hello kitty, etc. it’s one of those colors that make me happy just looking at it….you too?
March 17th, 2008 at 7:34 am
I love the handspun! I would cause that one shade in it rose rather than pink, mostly because it would help me make it through the day. Yes, I have a pink adversion, too.
March 17th, 2008 at 9:24 am
We’ll just start calling your “Pinky”! I don’t wear a lot of pink but I do love the color…there’s nothing wrong with “collecting”!
I love your DP needle holders!
March 17th, 2008 at 3:19 pm
I guess it’s a good thing I didn’t give you pink stitch monsters, yeah?! No worries, I like pink, so I would have kept them for meeee :-)
March 17th, 2008 at 3:33 pm
Yay for all that pink (and I’m not even a pink person!) Love the gadgets.
March 19th, 2008 at 7:41 am
Sanity is overrated, if you wish go for the pink lace.
How do the cats like the fierce DPN protectors?
March 19th, 2008 at 10:57 pm
The DPN holder crack me up. Love, love, love the yarn. I matches tose gadgets alright!
March 20th, 2008 at 2:44 am
Pink is sneaking up on me too. And you know, I have similar feelings about the pink.
March 29th, 2008 at 10:31 am
Wow- I am in awe of your spinning skills. Great work, with or without the pink!
I used to get those puppets at the dentist’s office when I was a kid- she called them “Cavity creeps.” The promise of cavity creeps was enough to make me actually look forward to going to the dentist! (the fact that I never ha real cavities probably didn’t hurt, though.) Well, I still like them enough to snatch them up whenever I find them at a toy store- and now I know what to do with them, thanks to you!
