It feels like I’ve been knitting and knitting with nothing to show for it. Finally, I have an FO to report.

Yarn: Fearless Fibers Superwash Merino Sock in Glorious Green
Needles: Size US 1/ 2.25mm
Started: January 31, 2008
Finished: March 5, 2008
Modifications: None. Why change a good thing?

I had been searching high and low for just the right pattern for this yarn. I adore this yarn and I really wanted to do it justice. I was finally inspired to give Monkey a try after seeing Claudia‘s Chocolate Monkeys.

Now I love this pattern, but I’ve never been entirely happy with my other two pairs of Monkeys. With my first pair, I encountered some horrible pooling. With my second pair, the colors of the yarn is so out of my normal comfort zone I hardly ever use them.
But these? These I know I’ll use. I’m a huge fan of green and this is not only green, this is “Glorious Green”. Not only that, the pattern shows off the yarn to perfection and the fit is superb.

With these off the needles, I might have cast on for another pair of socks. These said pair of socks might be knit with some handspun yarn. I might have even used this pattern (Ravelry link). And I might not have enough yarn.
I’m deploying Scheyer’s demon eyes on the yarn to get it to behave.

That look would certainly make ME behave! LOL
The Monkey socks are beautiful! I love the pair I made. They just feel snuggly on my foot. Hope you enjoy your’s just as much!

Those are gorgeous! I love the yarn and the pattern is a wonderful one! Isn’t it great to get a FO when it seems like you’ve been knitting away forever? I need one of those around now!

Monkey love!

What a great FO… the green truly is glorious! : )

Another nice pattern/yarn combo. The color is beautiful. I guess I’ll have to break down and knit those socks at some point.

They are really lovely and look so comfortable!
Did Scheyer’s eyeballs produce positive results?
March 10th, 2008 at 12:37 pm
Nice work on your socks and I like the color.
March 10th, 2008 at 12:55 pm
Gorgeous! Yay for a finished object. Casting off is a great feeling.

All I could do was “Oooh” and “Aaah” as I scrolled through your photos. The way you kept them coming in greater detail was very nice. Scheyer is so cute, he looks so happy and content, like he owns the place.
We are meeting these 2 rescue Chihuahuas (http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=10343820 and click on the watch video link) on Saturday. I will be sure to let you know how it goes.

You definitely mastered the monkey. They’re beautiful! I can’t wait to see those socks in your handspun!

Wow, that is truly a wonderful matching of yarn to pattern. I love that colour. Demon eyes, indeed … if works, let us know. :-)

Nice socks. I love that Monkey pattern! Great colour too! You have certainly mastered that pattern! As for the demon eyes! Scheyer looks kind of cute to me. Let me know if he tamed that yarn!

Very nice – gotta love Monkey! You know, I think I have the same yarn in my stash….!
March 10th, 2008 at 2:25 pm
Very nice! I’m still trying to decide what to make my next pair of monkey’s out of. I want it to be the perfect yarn…
Not like I don’t have enough socks (among other things) on the needles…
Scheyer looks like he’s getting big! Reminds me of my black cat Seth. The most pathetic scrawny looking kitten, but he grew up so big and handsome. :)

I love that colour a LOT! And you’re right, pattern and yarn match perfect.
Hi Scheyer! See if you can work magic on the yarn for mama! :)

Great pair of monkeys. I love the colorway.
March 11th, 2008 at 1:27 am
Love the monkeys. I loved all three pair!
March 11th, 2008 at 2:37 am
You’re going to be able to knit “Monkeys” in your sleep :)
Not that I haven’t wished for *exactly* that ability myself from tome to time!
I get that same look from Jade – what is it about cats that makes them think the universe revolves around their bum?
March 11th, 2008 at 2:42 am
He does look a bit intimidating! I hope the yarn listened to “the Boss!”
(((hugs)))

Third time’s the charm, eh? Glad you’ve found the right combination for your Happy Monkeys.
Are you hinting that you *may* have already started the new pattern with your handspun? Inquiring minds…
By the way, I don’t think your kitty could look demonic even if he tried. :o)

The socks are great! The semi-solids are always so great for stitch patterns. (That said, I thought the pooling in your first pair was pretty neat; but I am weird that way.)
March 11th, 2008 at 6:56 am
The socks are fabulous!! I love the yarn too; I’ve never tried anything this complex but I sure can ooh and ahhh over yours. Great job!
March 11th, 2008 at 3:22 pm
Yay Monkeys! That’s my next project, for sure. I was thinking red, but now I’m leaning toward green. Those are just too pretty…
March 11th, 2008 at 4:21 pm
Those are beautiful —- but where is the spinning love?
March 11th, 2008 at 5:54 pm
Your socks are wonderful! You have been a spinning maniac lately and any yarn that your cat stares down is destined to behave itself :-)
March 12th, 2008 at 1:40 am
Love your Monkeys! That is a great color! And hey, whatever it takes to make the fiber behave…
March 12th, 2008 at 3:50 am
I love your monkey socks…great pattern :)
March 12th, 2008 at 3:18 pm
OOOH, you do have a demon cat!!!!
Love the socks. Isn’t that Monkey sock a fun knit?
