Mondays are never fun, but it helps to have yarn. Lots of yarn.
My chief enabler is Christine of Three Dog Knits, who held a destashing sale for an extremely good cause. (I do believe she still has yarn left, if you’re interested in helping.)
I couldn’t resist getting some sock yarn. (Always with the sock yarn!) This is Sunshine Yarn‘s Heather TD. This is a really lovely yarn. I love the tight twist and the color is just gorgeous. Unfortunately I couldn’t get an accurate rendering of it’s true color. It’s blue, not purple. My camera sucks.

My mother immediately requested socks for herself. She rarely gets excited about such things, so even though I adore this yarn I’ll be knitting her socks.
Luckily I also got some Louet Gems in Teal. These are all mine.

And I couldn’t resist buying a skein of Noro Kureyon in color no. 92 for another fish.

Despite the riches you see before you, I just had to check out this sale on Cascade 220 at Ben Franklin. It was 2 for $10, except that I missed the sale by one or two days. My disappointment was a mighty thing of great proportions.
Since I was there, I wasn’t going to leave empty handed. I just scaled down my shopping list. So I bought a couple of colors for the Bar Harbor Shell Bag.

I’m not sure if these are the exact colors I’m going to use for the bag yet, but they sure are pretty.
Finally, one last skein of a lovely charcoal color.

This skein is destined to be a hat. Not for me, but for a gift. I’m not sure for who or what kind of hat yet, but it will be a hat.
Oh yes, Mondays are definitely better with yarn. :)

Mmm pretty sock yarn! You and me both on that one. I can’t stop buying it! And trust me, I’ve got more than I can handle right now. I keep casting on stuff though, that helps. :)

Ah…yes, Monday’s are better with yarn! Now, why didn’t I think of that?
February 11th, 2008 at 5:03 pm
Yarn makes everything better doesn’t it? I need to find something else to spoil myself with though. My stash is too big already. I can’t wait to see Mom’s socks and that bag!
February 11th, 2008 at 5:23 pm
Yes! Very pretty on a Monday and any day!
February 11th, 2008 at 5:30 pm
Woo … I think Mom has excellent taste! That Sunshine sock yarn is gorgeous!
February 11th, 2008 at 5:43 pm
Oh you really scored in the yarn dept! I am so sorry about the Cascade 220 sale – maybe they will run it again soon.
Oh Your Mom Totally deserves that yarn – its perfect for her – you best start knitting them now!
February 11th, 2008 at 5:47 pm
Good yarn choices! I don’t blame your mom for snagging that first one! It is beautiful.

February 11th, 2008 at 11:49 pm
Every day is better with yarn!! (And I love those little felted fish.)
February 12th, 2008 at 1:18 am
Loverly!!!
February 12th, 2008 at 4:38 am
Wow, that shell bag is really cool! I’ve seen an old bedspread (counterpane) pattern that used pieces shaped like that. Who knew it would make such a terrific bag? Would you felt it or leave it unfelted?
Every day goes better with yarn :) I think it was wonderful of the universe to make so many beautiful fibers available and then to put us here so we could dye, spin and knit them up!

Great yarn, Opal! I’ve fallen off the yarn diet wagon myself recently for no good reason. Seems to be in the air. (Parenthetically and totally off subject, did you get my “regular” email I sent last week?)

Every day is better with yarn, by my figuring! :D And that’s a nice stash increase there, I must say. I love the colour of the Louet Gems yarn; so rich and vibrant!
February 12th, 2008 at 7:47 am
Ahh! Temptation!
And such a good daughter, sacrificing the yarn for your mom!
(Ok, I’ll stop with the exclamation points.)

I always like/love your yarn selections. Thanks for sharing.
Ohhh… The Bar Harbor Shell Bag is beautiful.
February 12th, 2008 at 9:13 am
Must you wave all this gorgeous stuff in front of my face?!
February 12th, 2008 at 10:04 am
I hope you (and your Mom) enjoy the Sunshine Yarn. I have a small collection of her Harry Potter colorways but I haven’t knit with them yet. Those felted fish are cute! I may have to make some. And thanks again for going off your yarn diet. I’m on a yarn diet, too. It is painful.

You sure have some beautiful yarn there. I love the shell bag…you always find such nice and interesting patterns :) Can’t wait to see you working on it!
Happy knitting :)

Sigh. Wish I could steal most of it, but especially that lovely blue/purple sock yarn. Knit with it in good health!
February 12th, 2008 at 10:58 am
I enjoy your shopping so much! Al always says to me “Again with the sock yarn!?!” Clearly, he just doesn’t get it. I look forward to seeing your mom’s socks.
February 12th, 2008 at 12:07 pm

Very nice stash enhancement!
February 12th, 2008 at 4:04 pm
Some wonderful yarns. Wish you had feel-o-vision!!! This should keep you busy at least to next Monday!
February 12th, 2008 at 11:54 pm
Don’t you just hate when you miss out on a good deal?! It leaves such an awful grumpy feeling inside you :) But, you did come away with some beauties!!!
I agree, Mondays stink, except for the yarns!
February 13th, 2008 at 8:20 am
Love the yarn. Looking forward to seeing the fish and mom’s socks.
February 13th, 2008 at 12:11 pm
But really, any day is better with yarn. I like all of these recent acquisitions. I can not buy any more yarn right now. I simply can’t.
