Not a complete disaster.

Posted under Gifts and Charity & miscellaneous & shawls

So the Patriots didn’t win. As much as I wanted them to have that perfect season, the weekend wasn’t a complete disaster.

There was college basketball.

There was good food.

(Bulgogi, namul, and an island favorite, macaroni salad.)

There was hat knitting.

(Koolhaas by Jared Flood.)

There was stole knitting.

(Japanese Feather Stole by Anne Hanson.)

And there was the comforting presence of felines.

Like I said, it wasn’t a complete disaster. :-)

And kimchi and rice…*sigh*…oh how I miss the plate lunch.

Oh good I am glad you had some comfort with the game. That food looks great. I love the knitting and the Kittys on the Chair!

Yum. The food looks very good! And I’m very hungry. There was a football game yesterday?

  4. Meredith on 04 Feb 2008 at 2:18 pm #

    I. WANT. YOUR. LUNCH.

  5. textillian on 04 Feb 2008 at 2:52 pm #

    Hee hee! Giants won!

    I mean, I am so sorry….

Bulgogi!!! I’m drooling on my keyboard and it’s all YOUR fault :)

I was really surprised that after the season the Pats had had, they lost it in the end. I have no opinion one way or the other though because I didn’t, of course, watch the game. Myabe when football incorporates figure skating :)

I’ll have to go and look at that hat pattern - it does look rather nice. And darn you, that Japanese feather stole is looking more and more inviting!

I’m sure glad I ate supper before reading your blog. Oh, that looks so good. and so does Koolhaus. Your shawl is also looking great. And those kitties!! What can I say? Life is pretty good despite the football loss. I so wanted the Pats to have a perfect season.

really, you were cheering for the patriots? you never cease to surprise me! my thought process was that as long as the giants beat the packers, i’d hope they really were good enough to be at the super bowl and that they could even win. glad it wasn’t a boring blowout, right? during the game, i knit mittens to match my silly red riding hood scarf. watch out — they’re even sillier than the scarf! i can hardly wait to see koolhaas in person. looks good so far.

did you make the namul and bulgogi? if so, teach me, oh akami one!

  9. becky on 04 Feb 2008 at 4:48 pm #

Wait, is that a Cowboys chair and a Cowboys blanket I see under those kitties? I am so jealous!

I was also hoping for the Patriots to win, not to have the perfect season, but to give Eli Manning his comeuppance. Am I the only one who thinks it odd that a mediocre team with a mediocre quarterback miraculously managed to defeat the three best teams in the NFL?

  10. Jeanne on 04 Feb 2008 at 4:54 pm #

Oh, did the Giants win? I didn’t really notice..heehee…..

The food looks great - as does the knitting. Glad you found some comfort things!

    I’m glad it wasn’t a total waste!

Also, the stitch definition in the shawl, even unblocked, is impressive.

  12. desiknitter on 04 Feb 2008 at 6:04 pm #

Certainly not a disaster from the looks of all the photos!

  13. Christine on 04 Feb 2008 at 6:12 pm #

Oh, was there a football game last night? I watched Puppy Bowl IV. :-) I’m sorry about the Patriots. That food looks AMAZING!

    Your lunch looks delicious!

I bet even the kitties wanted some.

  17. Agnes on 04 Feb 2008 at 8:17 pm #

Everyone is knitting Koolhaas, it seems! I won’t be joining the party, though … hats, mittens, bags … I am not knitting those since I don’t use them much.
But the Japanese Feathers Stole is gorgeous.

  18. Hattie on 04 Feb 2008 at 8:29 pm #

Oooooh I love the Koolhaas hat. I need to make me one. I still need to fix Chad’s…

That japanese feather is looking good!!! I may consider that for mine, it’s really pretty! Although I think since my color is light, the pattern may not show as well. We’ll see, I’ve got some other lace that desperately needs finishing *coughmysteryshawl3coughcatalinacough*!

  19. fleegle on 04 Feb 2008 at 11:25 pm #

All spicy stuff–love it! The hat is handsome! The stole is lovely! And the garlic aroma just adds something, don’t you think?

  20. bockstark.knits on 05 Feb 2008 at 1:32 am #

damn, that food is making me drool all the way in germany!!!

  21. hetty on 05 Feb 2008 at 1:52 am #

Definitely not a disaster! Sorry your team didn’t win, but the hat looks interesting, the stole - fantastic, the food - delicious and the felines…. Well, what can I say! The presence of felines always make things go right!

  22. Kelley on 05 Feb 2008 at 1:53 am #

Wow! I love the Japanese Feather Stole. And your Koolhaas is great — a completely different look than mine. It looks like the color makes all the difference in this pattern!

  23. Lisa on 05 Feb 2008 at 2:36 am #

That game was just crazy! Those last few minutes were definitely a shocker. Glad you had the kitties, good food, and good knitting to get you through. Where have you been anyway? ;)

  24. Roseann on 05 Feb 2008 at 3:13 am #

I’ve been looking at that Koolhaas hat, what yarn are you using? It is very pretty as is Miss Pressie. Your lace is incredible! I’m sorry your team didn’t win, you certainly made the very best of it all.

  25. Carol on 05 Feb 2008 at 4:26 am #

Oh that plate looks yummy! Food, fiber and kittehs, what could be better?

  26. anne on 05 Feb 2008 at 6:29 am #

  28. tiennie on 05 Feb 2008 at 7:51 am #

    Beautiful work!

    That meal looks yummy!

  29. knitnana on 05 Feb 2008 at 8:59 am #

Oh my! I recognize that hat! :)
I hope that knitting it in that color makes it a lot easier on you than the black did on me!
    lolol
    And yes, lunch looks yummy….
Kitties look contented as can be, too!
    (((Hugs)))

Whoa, that photo display went from good to better to best! Except for macaroni salad, I don’t recognize the other foods. I do however recognize that Japanese Feather Stole and it’s looking great.

It’s the last shot that melts my heart though. Awww…

  31. nova on 06 Feb 2008 at 6:50 am #

I need to make some Bulgogi, seriously. I also need to make kimchi, but I think I will wait till my mom comes around. That plate of food makes me hungry.

  32. hakucho on 06 Feb 2008 at 11:25 am #

Knitting always makes everything better :)

  33. ClaireEJ on 07 Feb 2008 at 1:29 am #

Heavens, the new Pussboy looks more Puma like than domestic cat. I wonder what he’s been crossed with in breeding!

Cool hat and the food, dammit, I’m hungry now.
