I hope you all had a fantastic weekend! I sure did! The weather was wonderful. Here’s a shot I got when I went to drop off the local recyclables at the local high school. I believe this is part of the Koko Head Crater, but I think it’s really just a little hill next to it.

After doing our duty to the environment, my mother and I headed into town to check out the Whole Bead Show. I haven’t done any beading in awhile, but I’ve been in the mood for some new earrings. I ended up spending much more then I intended. Isn’t that always the case?
I was much too tired to get any beading done once I got home, but on Sunday I was sufficiently rested to get a couple of pairs done while watching football.
These are made from handmade lampworked beads from The Whole Bead Shop. I just fell in love with the texture of the beads.

These are made with Bali Silver, Swarovski Crystals, and sterling silver chain.

Just so you know, I haven’t abandoned knitting on the wayside like a broken toy. Not at all. In fact, just the opposite. The love affair with Shibui Sock continues.

One completed Merino Lace sock. (Pattern from Favorite Socks.)

On the home front, Scheyer continues to grow more and more comfortable with his surroundings. In fact, he even let me pull him onto my lap the other night for some cuddle time. He is a joy and his resilient spirit never ceases to amaze me.

Happy Monday! May your week be filled with stress-free crafty goodness.

I am very impressed with your Shibu Sock yarn and how you combine it with such lovely patterns. Your earrings turned out beautifully, you are so talented! I’m glad you got some cuddle time with Scheyer, I think he is learning that he is in kittie heaven.

So glad Sheyer is coming around. I knew he would respond to such a loving environment. And I do love the Shibui Sock yarn with that pattern. So glad you and your mom had a nice weekend.

The earrings are beautiful! I especially like the ones with Bali Silver – very pretty! As are the socks – very very pretty! I’m so glad that Sheyer is coming around – and he’s very handsome too!

That is a very yummy looking sock. The kind that makes you sigh when you slip into it!
January 7th, 2008 at 3:38 pm
Does Sheyer have two different color eyes? He’s a very elegant looking cat!
The socks are beautiful.
January 7th, 2008 at 3:46 pm
Glad you had a great weekend! Sun, it’s been so long since I’ve seen it around here! Great sock!

January 7th, 2008 at 4:16 pm
Wowee, those socks are just beautiful – great colour too.
January 7th, 2008 at 4:39 pm
Wow, your earrings are lovely! The socks look great, too. I’m impressed with all you get done!!
January 7th, 2008 at 4:46 pm
I’m knitting with Shibui for the first time too. Nice isn’t it?
Cute earrings, did I spy some OPI knails in the shot? ;)
January 7th, 2008 at 4:55 pm
I may have to kill you for those textured earrings and the Shibui hehe. Ok, maybe I will just live vicariously thru your blog instead. ;)

It looks like you had gorgeous weather … such a contrast to us here!
This is the clearest picture of Scheyer so far … I love his black fur! Look at the shine!
January 7th, 2008 at 5:27 pm
What a cutie he is! And that sock is gorgeous.
(((hugs)))
January 7th, 2008 at 6:46 pm
Cuddling! Excellent!
Those socks are just beautiful.
January 7th, 2008 at 6:56 pm
Awesome earrings! I’ve been wanting to do some of that lately too since it’s quick and I could use some instant gratification…
January 8th, 2008 at 2:41 am
Your earrings are beautiful – isn’t it a blast to be able to make whatever you want instead of having to settle for what’s merely available?
You sock is also cool – though (just in my own humble opinion) your going to have to work to beat the Seaweed pair – they’re a special kind of lovely :)
Scheyer looks peaceful and noble in you picture. I’m so glad he’s acclimating well. Look at it this way, after three and a half years, Jade still won’t let me pull her onto my lap. Nooooo – it has to be *her* idea or she has a hissy fit. Stubborn girl…heh :)

Cute earrings! More Shibui? I’m jealous. : ) Glad Scheyer’s settling in!
January 8th, 2008 at 3:18 am
Those earrings are beautiful! I really like the black and sparkley ones – you’ve been hiding this talent!
Scheyer looks like an Egyptian cat statue in that photo – very proud looking! Glad he’s settling in.

I love your positive post! The socks are fantastic! And the beaded ear rings look wonderful. But the best part is that cute little face of your dear Scheyer! I want to reach out and give him a little tickle under his regal chin! So glad he is becoming such a happy companion.

Have you ever been to The Bead Gallery? That’s a fun bead place…thanks for the beautiful photo
January 8th, 2008 at 10:10 am
The earrings are gorgeous, Opal! I am not a beader, but I like seeing what other people manage to come up with! I also like the Shibui MLS, but, that goes without saying.
January 8th, 2008 at 11:44 am
I like the earrings and the socks. (Must try that yarn!!!) I’m also happy to hear that Scheyer is coming around. I am not happy that your weather appears to be a complete opposite of mine. Is that blue sky in that photo? I’ve forgotten what it looks like.

When I read:
“I ended up spending much more then I intended.”
I said to myself, “Isn’t that always the case?” And then I read your next sentence and laughed to myself.
The beadwork and sock are wonderful.
January 8th, 2008 at 3:04 pm
Love the earrings! Bead shows are my downfall, so much that I’ve vowed to use up some of the jewelrymaking stash I have already before I allow myself to go to another one! Ooh…sparkly things… :)
As always, I love the sock, too!
January 8th, 2008 at 5:05 pm
Gorgeous earrings, Opal! I am not a beader, but I appreciate the work others do.
Scheyer is looking as happy as he can be! What a sweetheart!
The sock’s pretty cute too!

January 10th, 2008 at 9:07 am
See what happens when I don’t keep up?
You went and got a new cat! Good for you. That is always a good time.
Now that I am caught up, I will look forward to seeing more of the Akamai family…

OK, it’s Thursday and almost time for another weekend getaway. Where have I been?
The earrings are divine and your new baby looks so handsome, bright-eyed and comfortable.
January 10th, 2008 at 5:48 pm
The earings are really beautiful! I love the textured beads in particular. Your sock knitting is divine as usual but I wonder how you find the time to do it all. Has Scheyer started messing with the yarn yet?
