Posted under Fair Isle & Gifts and Charity & KIP & socks
My mind is a jumble of thoughts as I didn’t go to bed until 5am thanks to the chai I had last night. Thank goodness for Random Friday.
- Thank you for the big welcome you gave to my new kitty and for all the great suggestions for a name. I think we’ve settled on a name, but I’m not sure if it will stick. If it stands the test of time (that is if it sticks for more then a day or two), then I’ll be sure to share it with everyone.
The new addition is slowly settling in and there have been several sightings. In fact, while watching a sad basketball game (I just can’t win this week when it comes to sports), he decided to investigate the living room last night. - I finished a glove. Finally. It felt like this glove just did not want to get done. Now I just need one more to have the pair finished.

- I took the glove with me to that last night’s Aloha Knitters meeting. I can’t tell you how much I enjoy my knit group. They’re a great bunch of ladies and I don’t know what I’d do without them. Who else would understand my obsession with Fair Isle gloves in Hawaii?
Here’s Veronica hammin’ it up with the glove.
- Thanks to the insomnia, I finished a sock (Ravelry link). This sock seems to have been on my needles forever. Mostly because I’ve only worked on it in the odd moments I’ve had when I’ve been out of the house and when taking the sweater became too bulky to take with me.

- Finally, I leave you with a video I found on my friend Becky’s page. I apologize if you’ve already seen it, but I love it so much I thought I’d share it here too. ETA: You’ll have to click here to see it since I can’t seem to embed the damn thing. (Anyone have tips on how to do this with Word Press? I put the html in the html editor!)
That’s it for me for now! I hope everyone has a safe holiday weekend. Please drive safely. :)

Beautiful glove. Marvelous technique and skill. I see nothing wrong with knitting a glove in Hawaii. It’s all about the knitting, after all. Your group sounds like such a terrific group of ladies. Wish I had that here. Glad the new little one is slowly coming out of his shell. It just takes time. Milo is totally different than when we first brought into our lives and home. Now he runs the place. Happily so, I might add. Happy Holidays to all of you, Opal. Knit on!

The glove is great! It may feel like it took forever for you to do it, but to me it seems you knocked it out in nothing flat. And got a sock done as well.
I will go back to my slacker corner.

The glove is totally awesome - just beautiful! I gather you had something of a love hate relationship with the thing though? You know, you don’t *have* to make a second glove - you proved you could do it with the first one…
The sock’s not too shabby either!
Glad to hear your new household member is beginning to acclimate. I always hate the first few days when the new cat is skittish, nervous and unhappy and no matter *how* much you want to, you can’t explain to them that things will be all right. They just have to figure it out for themselves in time.
Thank goodness they usually do!

Opal, I’ve missed you. I’ve been out for about three weeks now. Too long. Congrats on the new kitty, and the new glove is gorgeous. So pretty. Thanks for the link to 12 Days. Hilarious. I’ll have to send to my folks.

Beautiful glove. Thanks for the link to the you tube, it was very fun!

Pretty glove! Personally I think it’s the glove’s responsibility to make the other matching glove, but it never seems to work out that way.
Glad the kitty is settling in! Living room! Pretty good for a cat who went through all that.

I had wondered about the glove/mitten thing and living in Hawaii, but, who am I to question? Love the glove and the sweaters a post or so back are awesome.
