Along with the rest of the other Second Wavers, on September 23rd I started the Clapotis. I’m using my new favorite yarn, Plymouth Boku, and size 8US/5.0mm needles.
So far I’m loving the miles and miles of stockinette stitch. The twisted stitches that are thrown in every now and then give it just the right spice.
It doesn’t look like much now, because I’ve decided to drop all the stitches down to the end all at one time.

The reason I decided to wait on dropping the stitches is that the Boku is a rather sticky yarn. So it’s a rather delicate process that takes some finesse. It seems a little ironic that just when you purposefully want to drop a stitch, it chooses to hold on.
I did do a couple of ladders and I really like the results. The picture below also shows a better representation of the yarn color.

Saving the job of creating the ladders is also a great incentive to speed up the knitting. At the same time, I’m trying not to go too fast so I can savor the joy of this soothing project.
Another thing that soothes me is the camaraderie between Quincy and Onyx. Here’s Quincy enjoying a sunbeam while Onyx has a drink of water.

I love how the Boku is knitting up into this pattern!
I found a local-ish yarn shop here today (1 hour away) and bought a couple balls of my own Boku. I was thinking of you. :)

Pretty colors! I loved Clapotis. I still want to make another in wool, just haven’t decided what yet.
My grandparents had a cat named Onyx at one point…they look pretty content in that pic.

Opal’s Zen: a soothing knit and peaceful cats. Enjoy both!

I love your Clapotis. The colors are great. I, too, am enjoying this knit immensely. I’m still increasing stitches, but should get to the next section tomorrow. I think I’ll drop ladders as soon as I can because I am no good at waiting. I’ll just be too curious and excited. So glad Quincy and Onyx enjoy such a strong bond.

You have more willpower than me. I couldn’t stand waiting to drop my ladders. I can’t wait to see it finished. I love the colors!

That Boku looks great knit up and the kittys look really relaxed and content. I can’t wait for the end when you ladder everything down!

Beautiful colors! My Clapotis was a little sticky, too, so you might have to coax a few stitches when you finally drop them. I don’t know how you’re marking the stitches to be dropped, but I purled them instead of using markers.
I really do love the colors; it will be beautiful!

My Clapotis was also made with a yarn that didn’t drop stitches well. That didn’t make dropping them any less fun though.

I love your “baby” picture and you Clapotis. What pretty Opal colors. How ironic that an accidental dropped stitch would go on forever, but this yarn wants to hold on to its stitches. I look forward to seeing it all finished.

What nice colors for your Clapotis! And isn’t it funny about the yarn sticking when you *want* to drop the stitch?
Years ago I used a mohair blend yarn for one of my first shawls and, towards the end, ran into a problem with the stitch count. I couldn’t figure out what was wrong - well there was a stitch missing. *That’s* what was wrong. It took me forever to find it a couple of rows down - just sitting there because of the mohair. If it had *run* it would have been a lot easier to locate!
Stubborn yarns!
How nice that Quincy and Onyx get on so well. The best Jade and Goldie are ever going to do is an armed truce :)

Ohh I love the colors of the Clapotis - maybe I shall have to make another in a multicolored yarn - might keep my interest better! I love how yours is coming out.
Glad there is such sweet hearts in your home!

It’s very pretty! I have never knitted one, but admire everyone else’s efforts.

The yarn reminds me of forests, all green and brown and nature-y. :D

I’m loving your Clapotis so much I may have to knit one soon…only I seem to have been hijacked by some six-inch tall knitted mice that want to be made in time for the holidays.
As much as I love your Clapotis…and I adore the look of the Boku, btw…I love the cat picture more. What sweeties. What honeys.

Ooh, pretty Clapotis! Although I had to laugh at “Second Wave”–aren’t we on, like, the “fifth wave” with that pattern? LOL.
