Mystery Revealed

I finished the knitting on the Mystery Stole 3 and after seeing this post I was eager to block it as well. (Thanks to Annmarie for the link!) It took me about 45 minutes to get it all pinned out, but I think it was worth it.

The theme is Swan Lake and I’m really happy that I went with the black on this occasion. Although I’m not sure if I identify with Odile or even want to. Being the deceptive other woman is just not something I want in my repertoire. ;-)

The only modification I made with this pattern was that I added more beads to the wing then called for. I think that Melanie staggered the bead placement. I opted for putting a bead at more regular intervals within the stitch pattern. I didn’t change the row that the beads were on, I just added it to every repeat.

I really enjoyed knitting this stole and I’m glad I got to be part of such a large group effort. It was a lot easier to finish this project since the knitting came in increments and I feel more then a little sad that Fridays will hold no knitting surprise for me.

So sad, that I’m trying to divide my current project into installments in a sad imitation of mystery clues. I do think that this will make large lace projects less overwhelming and in the end, get them accomplished one way or another. *cough*ForestPathStole*cough*

All in all, I consider this project a huge success!

    Oh Opal,
The MS3 looks beautiful! I’m so glad you got it finished. I am in the process of blocking mine tonight. Then I’m back to finishing FPS as well. We can do it! I’m with you all the way.

I agree this project is a huge success. Congratulations on such a lovely heirloom piece. I do love the black with the beads. Sad to say I gave up when the beads drove me nuts. Beautiful, Opal. Really stunning.

Beautiful! The shape is indeed very unusual and unexpected … but the wing is so unique and beautiful.

Oh wow! I can’t believe you’re done already! I still haven’t finished the first half. I plan on making mine symmetrical and then doing a wing version…the two wing version.

    Anywho, looks great!

Yours is gorgeous!! I almost went with black and now seeing yours makes me a little bummed I didn’t. I’m just like you, I love the idea of breaking up lace knitting projects into weekly incriments. I’m knitting the peacock feathers shawl first and then the forest path so I’m going to break up the patterns too. I’m also sad about the lack of a knitting surprise on Fridays.

Oooooh – it’s truly splendid! What an amazing design and what beautful work you do! I love the assymetric aspect of the shawl and the whole “wing” idea is wonderful!

You mentioned sectioning larger patterns – to make them easier to handle. You know, that’s a pretty good idea and I might try employing that myself – especially if I feel I’m likely to be overwhelmed by a pattern…such as Forest Path, for example :)

Well done. It is just lovely. Since I do not have the opportunity to knit with others in person, I love to do KALs. I feel that I am part of a group. I have enjoyed to see your progress. What size needle do you use?
