Before I forget…

Posted under socks

I started another pair of socks a month ago and they are a perfect project to take with me when I’m out and about.

The pattern is the Retro-Rib by Evelyn A. Clark from the book Favorite Socks. The yarn is Trekking Pro Natura in color #1603 that I purchased from my LYS Isle Knits.

It’s a simple pattern that’s lovely to knit as it’s easily memorized. I did make one slight modification. The pattern has you twisting a few stitches every other row and I decided to twist those stitches every row. It’s easier for me to keep track of and it gives the stitch more definition.

I adore the Pro Natura yarn. It’s 75% wool and 25% bamboo, which doesn’t make it as slippery as the Regia Bamboo yarn. The Regia line has 45% bamboo as well as 15% polyamide, which makes it much slicker.

The Pro Natura has a nice sheen to it and great stitch definition. It also has just the right color variation to it, so the yarn doesn’t compete with the pattern. I have another ball of this in my stash and I plan to use a more complex stitch pattern with it.

It might be too soon to say, as I don’t even have the first sock done, but I foresee many pairs of socks in this yarn as it’s become one of my favorites!

I knit my garter rib socks out of Pro Natura and just love it. It’s soft and shows great stitch definition. I love the socks you are doing. very, very nice. Now, about that lace shawl……………heheheh ;-)

Good call on twisting the stitches every row, it looks very nice. And I’m actually doing something similar in a design I’m trying out… we’ll see how it goes!

I wish I had some Pro Natura instead of Regia Bamboo, but at the same time, I’m hoping the Regia version would be nice to wear when it’s neither cold/hot… that is, if I ever get to knit it. : )

i like the beauty of the subtle colorway. the pattern is very user friendly - i love evelyn clark’s patterns; i’ve done two pairs in that retro rib pattern - one for my daughter and one for a friend. is yours turning out kinda snug? cause i think the two times i knit them they were snug - could have been the yarn i used - a superwash, i think one from elann, and the other from knitpicks….

I love the colorway and the stitch pattern. I am back to working on my Pro Natura socks now that the buzzkill socks are done. I must say that I am enjoying working on them now.

I wasn’t sure about that pattern when I saw it in the book, but seeing your socks knitted up convinces me that I need to knit a pair, too. As usual, incredibly gorgeous knitting from Opal.

That really looks good with all the ribs standing up! I envy the portability of those sock projects. You sound so nice and relaxed while knitting them. Beautiful as usual.

Good to hear your positive report on the bamboo blend. The sock pattern looks very nice - kind of elegant, even!

Gonna wear these with your cashmere and silk?
