While I waited for the Mystery Stole 3, Clue 4 to be released, I actually got a pair of socks finished. I had really neglected these poor things for too long.

Pattern: Slipped Stitch Rib (66 sts) from Sensational Knitted Socks
Yarn: Regia Bamboo - Color 1064/Ethnos
Needles: size 1US/2.25mm
Started: June 29, 2007
Finished: July 20, 2007

I loved working with this yarn. It’s so silky to the touch and cool to the fingers. Perfect for summer knitting! I’m eager to acquire more of this yarn, although I’m not entirely thrilled with the other colors.
The Slipped Stitch Rib has entrenched itself as my default pattern when it comes to something easy to knit that also compliments a busy yarn. I think it did a good job with this particular yarn as there is so much for the eye to take in. Plus, the ribbing helps snug the sock to my leg and ankle for a better fit.
All in all, I’m very happy with the way these socks turned out. I think these socks will be perfect to wear at Aloha Knitters where the cafe tends to be rather cool due to aggressive air conditioning.

such pretty socks! i have a skein of regia bamboo too in my stash that might be that same colorway….

Nice socks! I like the colorway. Is the yarn elastic or inelastic because of the bamboo?

Nicely done! Thanks for reminding us that you’d started those before. For a second, I thought you’d magically knit a pair of socks. I know you’re fast but, whoot :-)

Your socks look great. They will keep your feet from getting a chill for sure.
I HATE aggressive air conditioning. Tonight we went to Starbuck’s. You could freeze the antlers off a moose in there.
So, we went outside to sit (with all the smokers). There was one determined to give himself lung cancer in one sitting. YARGH!
But, I got a little knitting done, enjoyed an orange passion iced tea and watched a thunderstorm roll in. But, before I go to bed I must shower up. I smell like an ashtray.

Nice socks! I, too, love the slipped rib pattern. The colors you chose are lovely. Excellent job as we await MS3’s next clue. Could you send some cool Hawaiian breezes this way, please?

Nice job again Opal! I agree with you about the bamboo colors. They don’t thrill me either. I wish they weren’t all so mottled looking, but maybe that is the nature of the fiber combination? Anyway, great looking socks. I need to haul out my book and revisit some of those patterns. Ugh on the crazy air conditioning. I hate that!

Goodness, those certainly are happy socks! I agree, a not-too-busy rib pattern is a great choice for a bright, busy yarn - they go together (the yarn and the stitch pattern) exceeding well. The next time you attend Aloha knitters, should you hear a faint choir in the background, check your feet. Your toes are probably singing!
I haven’t tried any of the bamboo yarns yet, but the mill shop near me (Classic Elite) has some DK/light worsted bamboo-wool blend that I will probably try eventually. I keep waiting to hear how bamboo (and bamboo blends) wears - you know - does it stand up well?

So pretty! You’re tempting me badly with that yarn…too bad I’m on a budget induced yarn diet. :(

Your bamboo socks are sooo pretty. I got a sample of this yarn with a Loopy Ewe order, it is very nice to see it all knitted up. Your Aloha Knitter group will be very impressed.

Great looking socks! You always get such a nice fit with the ones you make.

I’m definitely going to have to check that yarn out–as much as I love handknitted socks (not that I make many), sometimes pure wool just seems way too warm!
Anyway, they look great on ya!
