Monday Report

Posted under KIP & cats & swag

Okay so today isn’t really Monday, but it feels like it since we had a long weekend.* It was a busy three day that included much knitting, movie watching, house cleaning, and receiving of the mail swag.

As you all know, Saturday was World Wide Knit In Public Day and the Aloha Knitters celebrated at the Aloha Tower. There were about 10 knitters there and we had a great time.

It was really interesting to see the stares we received. Though there were a couple of young girls that actually glared at us, which I thought was odd. Were they glaring at us because we were knitting or because we were a loud raucous party?

After the official WWKIP meeting, the majority of us adjourned to Gordon Biersch for dinner. All I can say is the garlic fries were absolutely divine and they made up for the mediocre service we received.

Here we have Kai, Veronica, and Jen expressing their knitterly joy.

While at the meeting, I could not restrain myself from showing everyone I my new shoes. Okay, I didn’t show the people had met for the first time. I thought they might think it a bit strange. :-)

They are the Dansko Camilla and I have been wanting these shoes ever since I saw them on January One a few months ago. Only I waffled back and forth over having to purchase them online.

What finally swayed me was a couple of posts by Crazy Aunt Purl. Instead of Zappos, I went with shoes.com because Zappos did not have the Camillas, but shoes.com had them! They were also cheaper, plus they ship UPS to all 50 states and they have a 365 day return!

I’m really happy with the shoes and I would definitely buy online again. In fact I even have my eyes on some sandals.

The goodies didn’t end with the shoes though. I also received a shawl pin from Chris over at Scotts Mountain Crafts. I’ve been needing one of these for awhile now and this design really caught my eye because it reminds me of a spiderweb.

I’m really impressed with how sturdy this pin is. I think it will hold up well and it truly is a thing of beauty. I hope to get more pins like these in sterling silver.

There was knitting done, but since this post is so long I think I’ll save it for another time. I also had another package or two in the mail, but I’ll also save it for another time.

And since everyone else is doing it, I’ll leave you with a belly shot of Quincy in all his glory. As you can see, he’s settled in nicely.

*Monday was King Kamehameha Day, a state holiday.

I have those shoes! I just love mine. They are so comfortable. Great minds think alike. And what a darling picture of Quincy. The shawl pin is lovely, too. So glad you had a good time over the weekend.

What a great Monday Report! I’m actually smiling from start of finish. Love that shot of your knitting buddies. Looks like you had lots of fun.

I have drooled over that style. The cutouts provide additional peeks of your socks.

I have a pair of Dansko sandals on right now. Love the support. I do a great deal of standing and they provide good arch support.

Now THAT’S what I call full frontal! That shot would make it into feline hustler…

Blessings to you on your beautiful island where the tradewinds blow but wool sweaters are not in such hot demand

Glad you had a great long weekend. Don’t worry about the girls that were glaring at you. They were probably upset because they wanted that table so that they could text each other, when they could, you know, just talk.

Hey, I didn’t get a three-day weekend :( Those are adorable shoes, and I love the shawl pin too. Fun goodies! Quincy is ridiculously cute–I think our Quincy’s are related because mine lays like that too. Only difference is mine has long hair and your has short (both black and white though).

Sounds like you had a great time. Some young women just don’t know how to have fun! Your shawl pin is just beautiful. I love the fact that it has a spiders web in the middle :-)

I love the Pomatomas sock & cute shoes combo, they look great together. Quincy has the sweetest little belly, it’s like he’s been with you forever. I appreciate the pin link and I think I will be sure to find something I like.

You have so many fans! I always feel like, after 20 or so comments, you don’t need to hear from me!

That shawl pin is amazing! I can’t stop typing exclamation points at the end of every sentence! Loved the KIP pic SO MUCH. Now i know what vicalove looks like.

I read in MidWeek today that one of the profiled 20something fashion people on page 31, Teri Fukuhara, likes to knit as one of her hobbies. And I was thinking, does she go to SnB? How can we get her to come too? Mebbe could look her up online.

Anyways, love the shoes. I am all for comfortable shoes that show off our socks too! I have to wear tennies because my flat, fat feet need the firm support. My feet hurt if I wear croc style shoesies too long.

LOVE that pin! Aren’t Chris’ designs amazing!
(scratch that kitty belly for me!)

    hey opal!
i must’ve arrived after the shoe show. but i like ‘em! i see you’ve got your eyes on some clarks…do you know about the outlet in waikele? i was able to find a couple of indigo treats there a few months back. there was even a sale on my specific size but i suspect they were simply making more room for the small sizes that seem to better fit the demographic out here. oh well. see you next week!

Those are really cute shoes. I’m in love with my Doc Marten mary janes for regular wear, but I have a rugged pair of Danskos (the professional line, or whatever they call it) that is great for the sort of standing and mild walking I do during the library shifts. No leg/foot tiredness when I wear the Danskos–pretty amazing stuff. Are the Camellia Danskos comfortable, or are they more on the extremely cute end? :-D
