Soon after I finished the Blue Sand Ripple Afghan, I realized the madness of ripple mania had not abated. So I started another the very next day.

This was originally meant to be my first ripple, but I simply could not wait for the yarn to arrive. I have to admit to a certain disappointment once the yarn came though. The sage or light green you see is a bit too bright for my taste. I was really hoping for a sage green like this and not something like mint chocolate chip.

I decided to go ahead and see how the mint green worked with the other colours anyway. Today was the first day I really laid it out on my bed to see how it all worked out. When I see it with all the other colours, the lighter green doesn’t annoy me like it does all by its lonesome.

I’m using the same pattern as I did with the last blanket. It’s wonderfully relaxing and a treat to knit while watching television. The yarn is Caron Simply Soft. I probably should have mentioned that sooner rather then later. As far as acrylics go, it’s a good deal. It’s inexpensive with minimal squeak and soft to the touch.
The best part of it all is that the ripple is not losing any of its magical force. I’m still deeply enthralled by the process. So much so that I already have some yarn lined up for a third blanket and I have succumbed to the lure of the book 200 Ripple Stitch Patterns. I should be having a good mail day coming up soon.
I do feel slightly insane with this mad love of blankets while there’s all this hot weather going on, but I figure you gotta follow your bliss. Anyway, isn’t that what fans and air conditioners are for?
PS Did you know Woodland Woolworks is having a 2-day sock yarn sale? It’s on for today and tomorrow and it’s 20% off on all their sock yarn. Gah. There goes my budget. It goes *splat!*

Wow, another beautiful ripple!!
I’m so impressed that you’re getting them done so quickly. I wish I could be as productive as you are!
O.K., I did NOT need to know about a sock yarn sale!! You are bad! ;-)

Ooooh, you go Girl! The second one is just as lovely as the first. I used to crochet with Simply Soft and love it. Keep up the awesome work, and you are going to nuts when the book arrives.

Dang you’re fast girl! I love the colors! You will be done with your third before I finish my first. A whole book of ripples? You are in trouble now. You will be forever know as Opal the ripple queen, the ripple nut, the obsessed rippler, HAHAHAHAHA!!

Playing off of what Lisa said: O, the Rippler! Last seen accosting yarn with her trusty crochet hook, producing blankets faster that you can say half-double-crochet!
You’re good, Lady.

Sock yarn sale! I guess I will have to take a look, just to make sure, in case they have a yarn I do not have already. I like the green in your ripple afghan. With my recent Fair Isle mitten experimentation, I have come to appreciate colors that stand out more after seeing mine blend together too much. You are one fast crocheter!

Amazing! They’re (both) beautiful!
(((hugs)))

Ripple away! I may have to succumb. I just browsed the book online. I have been resisting the WW sock sale. Maybe when I get home tonight…
Oh, and I think the lighter green works well with the other colors. By itself it might be a little bit much, but not in this combo!
huggggggggggggggssssssssssssss

Yup, the light green works well with the other colours. You’re right, though, it could be a bit overpowering – especially on its own… for a sweater or such…

that’s, um, GORGEOUS!!

Another ripple! I love the colors. I’m sure it will grow on you:)

I love it! Great colors – they look so pretty together. I really need to learn how to do this!

The new ripple afghan looks very nice. It’s hard finding sage sometimes… but the minty does look good in the overall effect. I’d be interested to know how much of the ripple stitches are crochet/knit in that book. Yikes, good thing (for me) I missed that sale.

I agree that the green works very well in the overall color scheme. Gives it a bit of a punch!
