The stress of the family drama has left me without the will to blog, but now I’m back. And I’m back with the sad news that my uncle passed away yesterday morning. I take some consolation in the fact that he’s no longer suffering. I want to thank everyone who has left a comment or has emailed me about this. Your support has been incredibly appreciated.
To get me back into the swing of things and because I was tagged not once, but twice by both Jeanne and Susie, I’ve decided to partake of the current meme floating in the blogosphere. The rules are simple. Each person gives 7 random facts about themselves on their blog. Then they tag 7 others and leave a note on their blogs.
- Even though I only lived in Korea for 2.5 years, we managed to move from apartment to apartment approximately 8 times.
- I knit right-handed, but I crochet like a leftie.
- I’ve been near-sighted and wearing glasses since I was 7. I tried wearing contacts when I was 19, but it was a total disaster. I kept losing the damned things!
- At one time I was a crazy ADD crafter. I learned how to tat, bobbin lace, crazy quilt, cross-stitch, needlepoint, lots of beading, and a little polymer clay. Lately though I’ve been dedicated to knitting and spinning.
- My knitting group has managed to addict me to Beard Papa’s cream puffs. I have to have some every week now. I try to limit myself to just one a week, but sometimes I just can’t help but have 2.
- I used to hate all shades of pink, but now I’ve suddenly acquired techno-gadgets in hot pink. My phone is hot pink and so is my iPod. I’m not really sure what this means. There’s probably some deep-seated Freudian reason that I’d be better off not knowing.
- I love to re-read books. There are some books that I’ve read at least 5 times. This is especially true of serials like Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series.

And finally, look who’s been coming by my lanai to visit?

Yes, that’s Bosco. Look how much he’s grown! He is still a sweetheart and I’m so glad that he’s still a part of my life even if I can never call him my own.

I’m really sorry about your uncle, but it seems he was not going to get better and now he’s free from pain and at peace. Still, it’s hard on the people who loved him. I’m thinking of you.
Hate Pink! and two hot pink techno gadgets! hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Freudian analysis coming up… when I can think of something really, really strange that it signifies. (I don’t wear much pink myself but am just starting a yummy mohair shawl in pink.)
Bosco has grown greatly and he is as beautiful as ever. I’m glad he comes to visit. What a sweetie he is!
hugssssssssssssssss

Condolences on your uncle’s passing; as you said, he is no longer suffering, which is certainly a blessing. I hope you can move into a peaceful place about it quickly.
So glad to see Bosco again! At least he remembers your kindness and comes back to say hi.
I grew up disliking pink, because I was a tomboy and it was so stereotypically girly. About five years ago I “came into” my feminity, and there was an explosion of pink in my life. Pink shirts, pink corduroy pants, pink Nalgene bottle, pink razor, pink purse, pink pink pink EVERYWHERE! I came back to my senses, so most of that has been given away now, but my favorite coffee mug is still rose colored…
I also re-read books, which drives my husband crazy. He wants to know why keep books around after I’ve finished them. I read “A Wrinkle In Time” at least once a year from age 7 to 20. The same ratty copy every time. (Ought to dig it out for kicks…)

I am very sorry to hear about your uncle and can only imagine what your family is going through right now. It is great to see Bosco. Even if it is just for a visit, what a nice pick-me-up for you. I can only hope his family has finally become worthy of him. Fun meme, I enjoyed learning more about you, hopefully I will get around to doing my soon.

So sorry to hear about your uncle, Opal. You and your family will be in my prayers. And how wonderful that Bosco comes by to visit. That just warms my heart. He remembers the wonderful time she had with you. I sure hope your neighbors are caring for him properly. I, too, am an ambidextrous crafter-knit right handed but throw with my left, and crochet right handed. I deal cards and talk on the phone with my left.

I am glad your uncle is at peace and you and your family can start to heal.
Maybe your crappy neighbors will get the hint and give you Bosco :)

My condolences on youjr uncle’s passing.
I also like to re-read books - I pick up so much more the second or third time through them.
Besides they are good benchmarks for me. Since the books don’t change, if my feeling about one is significantly different upon a subsequent re=reading, then I know that I *have* changed.

I’m sorry to hear about your uncle. **HUGS** I’ll continue keeping your family in my heart and prayers.
That pink thing? ME TOO! Pink cell. Pink ipod. Those who know me do a big double take when they see me w/ either. LOL If you get a good reason for the insanity … LMK!
