I was up until 2am with Ripple Fever and awake again at 6:30am. This is what I have to show for it.

I know it doesn’t look like much, but I didn’t get home until around 11:30pm. So there wasn’t a lot of concentrated rippling going on. I’ve decided to name the afghan Blue Sands. I’m not sure why, it just kind of came to me.
I’m also not sure how I like the way the colour scheme is going, but I don’t have enough of the variegated yarn to work through the whole blanket so I had to improvise with a quick trip to the local Ben Franklin Crafts store.
I ended up spending about $20 for enough yarn to finish the blanket. At least I hope it’s enough to finish it! I got the tried and true squeaky Red Heart. I figure that it will not only be durable, but extremely easy to take care of. Which is not something to sneeze at when there are 3 cats in the house.

Despite my colour scheme misgivings, I’m utterly in love with the ripples. It’s just so much fun to see them take shape and I do really love the colours. I just really hope that they come together at some point.
The reason why I came home rather late (for me) last night was that I went to dinner and a movie. I saw Spider-Man 3. I’m not sure if it was because of the kids in the back of me that had to utter “loser” and “retard” every 5 minutes (what find upstanding citizens these young boys will grow up to be) or the young family in front with the toddler and baby, but I had a really hard time focusing on the movie and keeping up an interest in the characters. Did anyone else catch this flick? What’s your take on it? If you don’t want to spoil it for the rest of the folks feel free to email me at opal AT akamaiknitter DOT com.
I actually enjoyed watching the Girls Next Door with my friend Jen more then I did the movie. Now does that speak more for my taste or for the quality of said movie? Ack. Don’t answer that! I’m hoping it was just because of the distracting qualities of the theater crowd.
One last thing, say hello to someone new in blogland, Aim over at Bumpy Doink!

The ripples are turning out quite lovely. I like the color scheme you’re going with, it looks very soothing.

Ok, I have been trying hard to resist the ripple pull, but after seeing yours, I don’t know how long I can hold out. I just love it!! What pattern are you using? Is it just double crochet? It looks just beautiful. I agree with the Red Heart use. These blankets need to be washable.

Love the ripples!
All of my yarn has arrived, and after some rippling last night and late this evening, I’m 4 three row stripes in! Just 47 stripes left. LOL. Hope to get a photo up soon–grey, overcast, and rainy here.

Love the ripples, and the name is perfect!

I like the color scheme. As for Spiderman, I wasn’t impressed with the first one, so never saw the second and will likely never see the third. Just something about the girl yelling for Spiderman’s help when she could have just jumped to safety herself. Why do they always have to make the girls so helpless?

Funny you should mention Spidie III - we’ve been debating it here. Since we saw both I and II, we’ll probablt have a look at this one as well, but neither of us really expects much, I’m afraid…
Your blanket looks great and I think your name for it is perfect. But I’m not sure I understand what you mean about the colors coming together - since it looks fabulous to me as it is.
What about adding a bit of copper or terra cotta - just to set the blue off - would that do what you wanted, do you think?

I love the colors in your ripple blanket! Really reminds me of the ocean and different types of beaches.

I think the colors look really good myself. I thinkt he cats will really love it and that’s all that matters right? As for Spider Man 3, it did not get the best reviews out here so I’m going to wait for it to go to DVD and rent it. That way, if someone is making noise it will either be my sister or the dogs. I can put up with that much better than being in a theater where you have little choice as to what to do about it.

Your ripple afghan is coming along so nicely. You color combinations make me think of a fun sock yarn colorway, perhaps there is some dyeing in your future! I enjoy seeing your progress, very inspiring.

I think your color scheme works well, and I like the ripples. I agree with limedragon that the pattern and color remind one of beaches. And the ocean. (and I’m homesick)
huggggggggsssssssss to the household!

I like the color scheme and the pattern and agree with the Lime Dragon that it reminds one of beaches. (which makes me homesick for salt water…and maybe for a musobi with ume in the middle)

Very very pretty! I’ve got to get to the local craft store…I’m going to use Caron’s Simply Soft for my ripple for the same reason you’re using Red Heart!
(and my colors won’t be far off from your’s either! My living room is a bright navy/white/taupe so I am going with those shades…more of the blues, too)
:)
Have not seen Spiderman3 yet.
(((hugs)))
