Spring Things Shawl

Finally finished is the Spring Things Shawl. This was an amazingly fast knit and it was an incredibly fun knit too.

Started: April 12, 2007

Finished: April 25, 2007

Pattern: Spring Things Shawl

Yarn: Jaggerspun Zephyr in Sage

Needles: Addi Lace Needles size 3US

After some initial bumps and false starts, I really became enamored of the simplicity of the upper body pattern. It was soothing and relaxing to knit. The pattern is well written and the charts are easy to read.

As I worked my way into the more complicated pattern of the shawl, I was particularly delighted that I invested my money in the Addi Lace needles to work the nupps. While I have some problems working the stitch with my Balene DPNs, I had absolutely no troubles with the superior German needles. I can’t stress to you how well worth the money these needles are.

I have to admit that I was concerned with how tiny the shawl came out as well. But I think that I found a recipient that will be delighted with the size of it. I’ll have to wait and see as I’m not ready to send it to her quite yet. It won’t be quite a surprise, but by the time I do send it to her, maybe she’ll have forgotten all about it. I’m really terrible at sending packages out.

I know how easy it is to send packages out from home, but I tend to hold out on sending them out because I want to put in just one more thing. Just one more thing then it will be ready! It’s a character flaw. I’m working on it.

Nupps are the final frontier for me, I have never knitted one. Yours turned out beautifully!!! I will be looking for those Addi Lace needles @ MSWF. You have knitted one gorgeous & inspiring shawl.

    Dear Opal,

Beautiful work as usual! That pattern is very attractive and you sound as if it was a real pleasure to knit. I will have to check it out myself for when I have spare time. Yeah, right. Ok, so I can add it to the very long list of lace I want to knit for which I have no spare time! Wonderful eye candy girl!

Lovely, Opal, just lovely. Congratulations on another beautiful shawl. I’m so glad you went with the sage. It’s just perfect. Geez, I wish I could crank out the gorgeous shawls like you do. And with three babies in the house, too.
    Hugs, Susie

Beautiful! I can’t believe how fast you finished it though. How big did it end up being? Just gorgeous though – if I didn’t just start a new project last night, I’d be very tempted to start this today.

I love that dreamy sea green color. Very springy. Missed you guys this week, but I had things that HAD to get done, and the sore throat du jour to nurse. I see I missed some nice sock yarns, as well. Ah, well, better that they go to a real sock knitter!

Hope you and the kitties are doing well.

    Very, very pretty!

I’ve got the pattern and the yarn and as soon as I finish up some things, this will be next on the needles for me!

  15. Robbyn Says:

The shawl is gorgeous – no real surprise there, seeing who knitted it – and just in time for the season!

Do you wear all the shawls you’ve knit?

  16. Peggy Says:

Just one more thing sounds like my sort of gift!! Deginitely not a character ‘flaw’. The recipient is very lucky.

  17. Sande Says:

Yup – very very pretty. That color would go so nicely with my green eyes. (no, not a hint – I think I have that color in a jaggerspun wool). But what I don’t have is the pattern. Where is it from? I find I like mindless lace knitting better than the kind you have to work hard at. I’m too lazy to work that hard!! (G)

As usual, this is just gorgeous, Opal! Birdsong pointed me to this pattern, and I’ve been thinking about it, too…

You’re adding to my “to do” list! lolol!

And I love those Addi Lace needles, too!
    (((hugs)))

    Beautiful. I am impressed.

It turned out fabulous! I had a question for you. I’m doing this in teal, and I’m wondering if you had leftover yarn from your shawl? As in…I’m thinking of doing more repeats on mine and don’t know how much of the zephyr gets used up by doing it as the pattern states. I have a 60 gram ball of it. Anyway, any info would be much appreciated!
