Cookie came home last night, only to have to return to the doctor’s this morning. Apparently the veterinarian couldn’t find any sign of a UTI in her urine, but they did find signs of an infection in her blood. They believe she had a UTI and that it has traveled to her kidneys. She’ll have to stay there for a few days for treatment.
I’m incredibly worried and thoughts of renal failure have been dancing in my head. So thank you all for your support. It means the world to me to have such great friends surrounding me here.
I really didn’t find out that it was a UTI infection that had caused her kidney problems until this morning. When Cookie came home last night, the latest news was that it might be some sort of kidney problems, but we wouldn’t know for sure until all the blood work came back. (I knew it wasn’t due to any bad pet food as we had triple checked the food that we gave our furry children.) I just had no idea what could be wrong with my poor baby.
So last night I found myself too distracted to really concentrate on any of my usual shows and I remembered a friend’s addiction preference to E! Before you knew it I was shamefully hooked on some reality show that takes place in Las Vegas and suddenly I had knitted myself to the heel flap of the second Mona sock. Jennifer, if you are reading this, I shall mock you no more!

Oh Opal - give Cookie a gentle hug for me and keep us updated. I have been worried about her. Hope she gets well soon.

Dear Opal,
Poor Cookie and Poor Opal! I know your Vet will take good care of her and I hope she gets better really soon. Keep yourself distracted and make sure you don’t forget take care of yourself while you are busy taking care of everyone else. I’m sending good thoughts to you and yours!

Do yourself and your cats a favor Opal, ditch the canned cat food altogether! It’s not really healthy for cats, too much ash and magnesium can lead to renal problems and a TON of preservatives and as we all now know, can be subject to contamination much more easily than dry food!
If you want to give them a “treat” a few bits of shredded chicken makes cats very very happy :)

Oh no, poor Cookie! My sweet little Bosco couldn’t have done that! ;) Seriously though, I am sending those healing vibes to the little sweetie. Urinary probs are my biggest fear with my kitty.

I hope Cookie gets well soon. It is so hard when they are sick! I am very glad it is not that bad cat food, I checked our dog food, too. Chanel has a kidney function issue and eats special food. I hope Cookie bounces back quickly.
