All has been chaos at Chez Opal since the arrival of one boy cat on Sunday night. He is actually a neighbor’s cat, but they have not been seen or heard from since Saturday. After hearing him crying piteously at my door 2 nights in a row, I finally gave up the fight and brought him into my home.

Prior to this current incident, I should mention that this darling had been left outside all hours and I do NOT live in a particularly quiet neighborhood. There is at least one feral colony across the street and the traffic on the road is dangerous for 4-footed creatures. In fact, I lost one of my cats to a car racing into the driveway of our townhouse complex a few years ago.

Even though I could not resist this angelic face, my other cats are NOT impressed. So I’ve been dealing with ruffled fur and prickly tempers. Some of the tempers have been exercised beneath my bed at around 2am, which is really not conducive to sleep.
I’m not sure if we’ll be able to keep the little angel permanently, but I really hope so as I’ve fallen completely in love with him. We’ve renamed him Bosco, but I’m not too sure that name is right for him. The neighbors had named him Minou, I think that’s French for cat. I’m not too fond of that name either.
I really don’t think that anyone who leaves their pet without food, water, or shelter for 4 days is deserving of said pet. I also don’t want to be accused of theft. So we shall just have to see what the next few days brings us.

Oh, poor likkle fella! Good for you, taking him in; hope your cats learn to like him, or that you can find him a good and deserving home.

Oh I totally agree with you - they do not deserve a beautiful boy like that! Hopefully the pecking order will get all figured out with Onyx and Pressie and him soon. Keep us up to date with him.

Oh no! Bosco is indeed cute.
Also, some people deserve to be tarred and feathered.
(PS Not to freak you out, but when Mary and I moved in with my (now ex) bf and his 2 cats it took *weeks* to settle out the pecking order. Weeks of sleepless nights and crying cats because someone or other had to be locked out of the bedroom. Yeah, and all for naught.)

Bosco is lucky to found you!

Good for you, Opal. The kitty is so lucky to have found you. I pray that you will be able to stay together, chaos and all. Those other people should be shot for treating animals that way. But then I tend to get really emotional when it comes to neglect and mistreatment of animals. Hope the pecking order works itself out. Good for you!

Your neighbors could have been reported for such cruelty to that poor kitty. I think that Bosco would be much better off with you and your neighbors are lucky you didn’t report them to animal control! I hope he gets to stay with you and I know he hopes he can too!

Actually, your neighbor named Bosco with the french translation of “pussycat.” The masculine french term for cat is (get ready) “chat.” Minou is a little effeminate IMO for a male cat. Anyways, glad he’s found a home with you guys.
