I finished the Hidcote Garden Shawl yesterday. I was so excited I blocked it immediately after getting it off the needles.

Pattern: Hidcote Garden Shawl by Miriam Felton
Yarn: Jaggerspun Zephyr in Sage
Needles: size 3US Crystal Palace Bamboo
Started: October 15, 2006
Finished: March 6, 2007

This was so much fun to knit. Despite my bitching, I enjoyed every single minute every it. Even the purl rows! I did experience some confusion with a couple of the symbols. The knit stitch on the wrong side rows is a dot. The centered double decrease is a bigger dot. My poor eyes got them mixed up and I started to do CDD’s on the purl side rows. I quickly learned that was the wrong thing to do, but I was sorely tried by the confusion for awhile there.

The shawl is gigantic and it will surely envelope my 5′2″ frame in a complete embrace. I can’t wait for it to dry! And just maybe I’ll be able to get better pictures. No promises though!
In the meantime, I have started the Forest Path Stole. It had a bit of a rough start. I dutifully cast on and knit the 20 rows of seed stitch. Then as I worked the next row, my stitch count was way off. I must have had a moment of dyslexia as I had cast on 114 stitches instead of the prescribed 141 stitches. I felt like such a dunce! So I’ll try again today and see where it takes me. I should be able to count properly this time.
Thanks for all the wonderful suggestions as to what to do with the Misty Jaywalkers. I’m going to try Robbyn’s suggestion and do some decreases around the ankle area. I just hope I’ll still be able to get it over my instep! I’ll be working on them at the Aloha Knitters meeting tomorrow night.

Dear Opal,
Your Hidcote Shawl is just wonderful! You will be encased in delicate beauty whenever you wear it! I know what you mean about it being fun in spite of the bitching at times. If we really hated it that much we wouldn’t be doing it. Excellent work!

I love the shawl! It is on my list of todos. However, If I ever finish this FLS, I think I will be off shawls for awhile. What yarn are you using for the FLS?

Wow Opal, it is beautiful! (and huge!) I’m glad you finished it after it’s hiatus!
I have seen some beautiful Forest Path Stoles out there. Good luck! (And about the dyslexia - I do that all the time. So annoying!)

Opal, it’s WONDERFUL!!!!! And I got a double dose of gorgeous just finished shawls…Grumperina has a newly finished shawl on her blog, too. I needed the inspiration from both of you, because I just moved through a little frogging episode and was pouting.
Congratulations!
