The Shaped Triangle Shawl

Posted under shawls

Here is the Shaped Triangle Shawl right before I pinned the edging out. I have a really hard time taking photos of finished shawls and this one is particularly huge. The cutting board that it’s on is 60″ long and the shawl overflows on both sides and when I was done pinning out the shawl there wasn’t much room for me to move around. I am indeed photographically challenged when it comes to shawls, but you don’t want to hear me whine anymore about it!

Pattern: Shaped Triangle from A Gathering Of Lace

Yarn: Jaggerspun Zephyr in Admiral

Needles: Size 4US / 3.5mm Inox Express

Started: August 2006

Finished: February 3, 2007

Even though the charts were tiny and hard to read I still managed to enjoy knitting the body of the shawl. I should have just enlarged the charts, but I was lazy. And despite the fact I had a bit of discomfort fudging the edging for the midpoint of the shawl, I did enjoy the challenge it gave me.

So on the whole this was an enjoyable shawl to knit and I look forward to making another shawl from this book. One of the shawls I really want to make from this book is Frost Flowers and Leaves. I tried making it last year, but I just couldn’t get it right. Hopefully I can get face the challenge this year.

Before I can tackle the Frost Flowers and Leaves though, I plan on finishing the Hidcote Garden Shawl and then on to the Forest Garden Path Stole.

WOW!!! I think that is a masterpeice! It looks so great - and even if you had to “fudge” I think you did a wonderful job!
    Congrats on a beautiful Shawl!

Beautiful Job! You are officially insane for wanting to do the Forrest Path Stole. Entrelac. I mean, there are easier ways to loose your mind girl! I may just have to buy the pattern for Hidcote Garden Shawl too. Congratulations!

Beautiful! It looks great - you must be so proud of yourself. I really want to start a shawl now…wasn’t on the plans, but after seeing this I’m getting the itch again!

Gorgeous shawl!!! The color and the pattern work so nicely together, it is stunning. I wondered if I had the pattern and it turns out I do have that book. I like the upclose picture, lots of informative detail, very nice.

Beautiful shawl, Opal! Funny how we’ve done or are doing the same shawls, isn’t it? I also really want to do the Frost Flowers and Leaves, but it’s going to have to wait until FPS is done at least. And I still haven’t found my ideal yarn for it.

Love that blue! The work is georgeous as always. I am glad that you are going to join the Forest Garden Shawl knitalong. What yarn are you planning on using for that project?

Breathtaking Opal, just breathtaking! Forest Garden Path is on my list of must do’s as well - though I may be 80 before I get up the nerve!

Well, darn, all the good comments have already been made! It is a gorgeous piece of work, I love the color and you did a marvelous job. I’ve abandoned all my in-progress shawls and started the Wool Peddler’s in Plum Maine Line from Jaggerspun. I’ve made it a 3part (rather than a divided triangle) and now that the middle part is wide enough for my back (and butt) I’m going stop making increases there. I need another 5-6″ in length before starting the lace, tho, so I’ve got plenty more soothing, TV-watching garter stitch left to do. :)

Woo hoo! This inspires me to get cracking on mine (I’m still in the first section where it looks like a bunch of cute little arachnids holding hands).

    Wow, beautiful as always!
That shawl is the main reason I bought that book, but I still haven’t made it yet. That blue color is stunning. Another gorgeous knitted item to be proud of, Opal!
