One day my friend Dorothy asked me if I could make markers for one of her crochet projects. It was quite a coincidence since I was already thinking of making new markers for the shop.
This is how the Off The Hook Markers were born.
These are great for marking rows in knitting or in crochet. I like them a lot better then paper clips. :P
As a special contest for the launch of these new markers, I’m going to pick a random commenter off this post and send a free set of stitch markers to him/her. The markers will be made to order in the color of your choice.
The rules are thus:
1. You can leave only one comment BUT!
2. If you Facebook or Tweet or Plurk or blog about the contest then leave the link in a comment and I’ll add an extra entry in the bowl with your name in it.
3. If someone leaves a comment and mentions your name then you get another entry with your name on it.
4. You have until Sunday, March 14th, midnight Hawaiian time, to enter. For those not in the know that’s GMT -10:00 or in other words i’m 2 hours behind the west coast and 5 hours behind the east coast.
Scheyer and Quincy are feeling the blog love.
Happy Thursday folks!

March 11th, 2010 at 1:29 pm
I’m LOVING the set you made for me! They work great with knitting looms!
March 11th, 2010 at 1:36 pm
Quincy and Scheyer look so comfortable. I sent you a reply to the last e-mail you sent me, but for some reason it bounced. I’d meant to resend it, but got distracted and never got around to it. Sorry about that. I wasn’t ignoring you, honest.
March 11th, 2010 at 2:13 pm
Me, Me….fleegle waves her tentacles at Opal :)
March 11th, 2010 at 2:32 pm
I bet those will work a lot better than paper clips that seem to get caught on everything!
March 11th, 2010 at 2:33 pm
How’d you know that I use paperclips?
March 11th, 2010 at 2:48 pm
The markers look really nice. I like the extra sparkle of two beads.
Yay! for cute kitties.
March 11th, 2010 at 3:39 pm
How do you use paperclips? Mind you, I know nothing about knitting, so I am totally clueless.
March 11th, 2010 at 4:30 pm
So pretty! Love the beadwork!
March 11th, 2010 at 4:39 pm
Paperclips! Now there’s something I hadn’t thought of yet.
My go-to markers are coiless safety pins. I use so many that they frequently invite comment or question.
March 11th, 2010 at 4:48 pm
They are beautiful markers. Good work.
Love the kitty photo.
March 11th, 2010 at 5:19 pm
Those are awesome!
(And I’m not the Dorothy she’s talking about…. I can barely do a single crochet!)
March 11th, 2010 at 7:06 pm
Oh wow those are cool. I feel like a dork for never having thought about a paperclip lol
March 11th, 2010 at 11:04 pm
I don’t comment here as often as I should, but of course I have to do so this time. The markers are beautiful, and I like the idea of hook markers even for knitting. I often want to leave markers in the work on a particular row and you can’t really do that with the usual ones which go on the needles. That’s when I use scrap yarn, but those markers would be a lot more elegant.
March 12th, 2010 at 2:03 am
I like checking in here. You always have something pretty to show and I really like the new markers.
March 12th, 2010 at 2:55 am
You? Brilliant. That’s one of the best ideas I’ve ever seen.
March 12th, 2010 at 4:09 am
Oh my! Those are so lovely and unique! I’ve never seen markers like those before!
March 12th, 2010 at 5:01 am
Those are pretty! I’d wondered what to use for markers to keep on the project instead of the ones just for the hook. :/ I’d just used spare pieces of yarn haha
(seen a post by Rae on plurk and came to look!)
March 12th, 2010 at 5:40 am
Your markers are lovely. I would love to win some. I usually use a scrap of yarn. Quincy and Scheyer are too cute!
March 12th, 2010 at 6:23 am
Those are so pretty! (They’d be good for marking dropped stitches, too… not that I’d know anything about that…)
March 12th, 2010 at 8:07 am
those are beautiful! I love the cuddly cat picture. My cats don’t get along, so such a shot isn’t possible at our house.
March 12th, 2010 at 9:02 am
Want, want, want, want. want.
March 12th, 2010 at 10:04 am
Pretty! Love the colors. And they look way better than paper clips. :P
March 12th, 2010 at 10:32 am
I love those! Such a good idea and so much prettier than the safety pins I normally use to mark rows.
Kitties! :D
xo
