		<description>Well, you may remember I gave lace socks (in Zephyr) to a mutual friend of ours who knows all about taking care of handknits.  Unfortunately, her DH threw one into the washing machine, leaving her with one sock which fitted her and one that fitted her youngest daughter, aged about 4 at that time.

But ... give it to him anyway, and if he shrinks it, that will be his problem, not yours.  It looks good and he should enjoy receiving it and wearing it, and he may never felt it.</description>

I've only knit machine washable things for others.  Even if it has to be on gentle and then flat dried, it still seems like less of a burden.  The only exception to this would be my mom b/c I know she will hand wash things if needed.</description>
