So just for kicks, I thought I’d bombard you with more handspun.

I got this fiber for my birthday a year or two ago. (Thanks, Jen!) I adore Targhee. Adore it! I tried to spin it spider web thin, but somehow that didn’t happen. Still, I got some pretty good yardage on it. Enough so that a person could make a nice shawlette with it.

100% Superwash Blue Faced Leicester
185 yards
12 WPI
4.5 oz
Fiber credit – Spunky Eclectic Fiber Club
I loved loved loved spinning this up even though the colors really weren’t up my alley. I also don’t like to spin regular BFL. But the superwash? I dig the superwash. It has a nice sheen to it and a softness the untreated BFL doesn’t seem to have.
Or maybe I’ve just been spinning the wrong BFL?

100% South African Fine
185 yards
12 WPI
4.5 oz
Fiber credit: Hungry For Handspun
I worked really hard to keep this a low twist single. I minded my treadling and I cranked up the tension. For the most part I think I did okay. Plus, South African Fine is another favorite of mine. It’s so soft! I also have crazy love for the colors. So soothing!
Another thing I have to bore you with is the same necklace I’ve shown you before. Only I tried to jazz it up a bit by adding pearls. I didn’t add a crap load of pearls, just a touch here and there.
I tried to get a shot of the necklace on my velveteen display stand, but my camera totally freaked out on me. I don’t know what happened, but it was not pretty. I’ll just save you the eyesore and skip those photos.
Sadly, I have no pretty scenic or feline shots for you. What I do have is a shot of me and my friends enjoying lunch at the Waioli Tea House this past Saturday.
Can you guess which of those lovely ladies is my mother?
Happy Thursday, everyone! Thanks for putting up with me and my zany ways!

Pa-Pow! With lovelies like this, you can bomard us ANY TIME. :-0

Ha! I actually tried to type “bomb-yarn us”, and three times I went back to fix it, but I still screwed it up – LOL!

I’m guessing middle, left — she’s looking right at the camera and smiling and I’m assuming that YOU are behind the camera.

I think I have a black eye! ;-)
Also BFL is my favorite fiber to spin. Not that I’ve been spinning for very long.

I really like the honey tones of Terra. Sweet Respite is really pretty too.

Gorgeous yarn! Your mother is clearly the blond in the back on the right :)

Your African Fine is my favorite too :)
I have a feeling your Mom is the one wearing the necklace ???

Pictures of spinning is never boring!

I think your mom is the one that looks like you. ;) We Cowboy fans have a knack for spotting each other.

Lovely yarn! I know your mom, so I won’t guess, but if there is a prize, I will;)

Glad to see lots of spinning at your end. It all looks lovely! Is your Mom the one wearing your necklace?
February 7th, 2010 at 2:34 am
Beautiful, beautiful yarn!
February 8th, 2010 at 2:42 am
All of the yarn looks yummy, but Terra is my favorite.
As for “Will the real Opal’s mom please stand up.” I am going with contestant #2 (middle left with the necklace on.)

If this is a death ray, I can cross something else off of my list of fears. Fire away with these pretties anytime!
I am mega-impressed by your low-twist singles. I need to stop reading and start trying.

Sweet respite is gorgeous (ok, they all are, but you knew I’d love this one, right?)
Your mom…that’s a really loaded question you know. I’m guessing the gal in the middle on the left!
(((hugs)))

That necklace is really interesting. The pearls do something good for it, too.
Targhee is great! If I could find a supplier of undyed Targhee top, I’d be thrilled. It really is a nice one to spin thin, isn’t it?
February 17th, 2010 at 8:14 am
I know which one!!!!
