Where’s the love?

I was a little hesitant about blogging today as I’m in a funky mood. My thumb is still not happy and I’m still not able to knit. I’m also not able to crochet which I really need to do as I still have gifts to make.

I really thought I could do it too. So I worked hard to switch gears to crochet mode, but after just one row I knew that it was a bust.

Hopefully a week of doubling my anti-inflammatory will beat that thumb back into submission. Fingers crossed, mmmkay?

The thing of it is, I’m having a hard time switching gears back to beading. I think I’ve lost the bead love.

First, let me reassure you the beading doesn’t hurt my thumb. I don’t move my thumb when I bead. Thus it doesn’t hurt my thumb.

Moving on. Or backward. Or whatever.

I met up with a bunch of friends at The Whole Bead Show on Saturday. I was a good girl too! I was under budget by the time we went to lunch.

Here’s the majority of the beads I bought. (The rest of what I got will have to be revealed at a later date for a special unveiling. I like to be all mysterious and stuff.)

I have plans for maybe half the beads there, but the icy blue beads? They were just too pretty to pass up. :)

As for losing the bead love? I think it’s because of this.

In my mind, the white is just all wrong. It makes the piece look anemic. I think I’m going to go to the other extreme and use black.

The problem is that flower is already sewn securely onto the “petal” piece. So I’m going to have to make another flower. That has me a little frustrated.

Also, what am I going to do with that? Maybe I’ll make a pin and do a give away. Maybe someone will like it.

Now I’m just rambling.

Here’s Sammy looking none too happy himself.

Happy Tuesday, everyone! I hope your holiday celebrations were wonderful and that you’re all recovering nicely. :)

    Nice haul!

Someone will like it, sweetie. It is lovely.

I hope the thumb starts to feel better soon. I don’t blame you for feeling frustrated.

Sammy looks like he’s watching a gecko or something like that.

I think the beading on the flower is lovely, but I see what you mean about the white not quite fitting into the rest of the color scheme.

Like you said — someone will love it though. Just not you, I guess.

Sorry about the thumb. Sending good thumb vibes your way (and my way, too, because I’ve been knittting with bulky and my left thumb hurts.

Now…my opinion is that the white looks lovely in that flower, even tho’ you think it looks anemic. I am so impressed with your beadwork. Here’s hoping you get your beadlove back soon.

    hugssssssssssssssssss

love the green beads and the little sculpted beads – roses? i like the beaded flower and see what you mean about the white – maybe a champagne color? or too close to the silver – is that silver? anyway, i love your beadwork, i had to stop seedbeading cause my eyes couldn’t take the strain and then my fingers got all clumsy like….happy new year!

hmmm, i see about the white. i think amethyst would be pretty too if you didn’t want to go totally extreme with black.

Sorry to hear about your thumb. That really sucks.

The new beads are pretty. I get what you are saying about the white, but I still think it is very pretty, especially against a darker backdrop.

  11. Roseann Says:

Your bead flower is beautiful!!! I’d be curious to see how black would look, however, I predict I would be a fan of the white. I hope your thumb feels better very soon, hand ailments are too frustrating! Sammy is cuter than a LOL cat.

  12. Barb Says:

Lovely haul. You been one busy beader!

  13. Megan S. Says:

Ohhhh.. The icy blue is to die for. Absolutely amazing. And the flower? Girl, you amaze me. One day I have to sit you and the Queen in the same room so I can just watch you two work.

    Mwah!

    (See? Speshul, I tellz ya!)

I don’t know what I’d do if I could knit…probably hurt someone. Or be generally grumbly. Hope your thumb gets better soon.

Pretty beads and good luck getting the beading love back.

I think Sammy is trying out the brooding male model look. It works for him. :)

Ramble on, honey! I would love to win a pin like that. It looks fantastic to me. Great bead haul you got there! Hope your thumb feels better soon. I love Sammy, no matter how he looks. I think he is planning something if you ask me. Maybe to pounce on one of those lovely icy blue beads. I would if I was a cat!

  16. Tiny Tyrant Says:

Um but it’s really pretty Opal. I love the way the white makes the petal colors stand out more.

    Sammy’s a cutie as always

  17. Angie Says:

I hope the thumb is better when you read this! I think you beading looks like a trillium. ( wild flower). So pretty!!!

    Hugs!!

  18. Saffron Says:

Sometimes we all need to ramble. Hope you heal quickly and find the craft love again.

I’d put it in the etsy shop and see what happens…but I agree that black would be an interesting element.

Take care of your thumb!!! And would it help you any to know I’ve tried three patterns to knit mitts out of a skein of sportweight yarn? I think (after ripping the third attempt out b/c I made a mistake in the new pattern!) that I’m on track now, but it’s been a rough week!

    I’m sending you love! *wink*
    (((((Hugs)))))

Happy New Year (a little late!)

I hope your thumb is all better – I think the flower is very pretty – but it would look nice with black too!

You must spend more time looking at the lovely pretties from the show, and less at the finished piece that does not thrill you. I understand how deflating it can be to step back, look at quality work (and you truly are skilled) and feel a bit meh over the results. I think maybe it should go in the shop for someone who will love it.

I’m so sorry for the pain.

    xo
