I started the Braided Cable with Garter Stitch Bead Socks from Sensational Knitted Socks yesterday, but between talking on the phone and listening to the rain, I couldn’t concentrate on the pattern. So I ripped out what I had and restarted them today.
I’m using size 1US needles and Opal yarn that I got years ago when they were doing one of a kind colourways. So far it’s really hard to see the cable pattern, but I’m hoping that if I keep at it, the pattern will start popping out. I’ve only done one repeat, so it’s early days yet!
This is the first pattern from the book that I’ve tried and I’m a little skeptical with the sizing of the sock as it seems like it might be a little too loose, but I’ll try to reign in my doubts until I have enough knit up to try on.
Plus, it’s been awhile since I’ve had socks on the needles. It was a real challenge switching from size 8US needles down to the teeny tiny 1US needles. My hands aren’t too happy with the change, I think they prefer the bigger needles.
Also, it’s been really humid here in the islands, so having a small project with minimal contact to the skin has been preferable to having a huge lap full of wool. The humidity is supposed to stick around till Tuesday. So thank goodness for fans and air conditioners!

Opal,
I admire your stitch markers. How much weight do they add to a project? I have thought about investing but I wondered if they get tangled in the knitting or if they are at all heavy?
