I thought it was time to turn all of my red yarn into something useful, since I haven’t yet received my Knit Picks Christmas booty. So I took inspiration from The Keyboard Biologist’s father and started a red scarf for the Red Scarf Project.
This is the scarf I started out with yesterday, but after a few inches were knit I quickly decided that the fabric didn’t have enough drape so i frogged it without remorse. After all it’s just string!
I started off again with bigger needles after a couple of hours I was able to accomplish a good enough amount for me to be pleased with the drape of the fabric. It was really hard for me to take decent pictures as it’s been terribly overcast and dark all day.

I’m using size 8US needles and the stitch pattern I’m using is from the Gentleman’s Socks that I just finished last month. It translates really easily into straight knitting and I think provides a nice unisex look for a scarf.
The yarn is Heritage from Briggs & Little that was originally going to be the Rogue. I’ve since come to my senses and realized that I will never wear a wool sweater in that style, but I may one day make it in a cotton or cotton wool blend. If I can ever get the courage to knit it up…

Very nice scarf - the color is great. Rogue is on my list of patterns for someday - I think it would be great in cotton!
