Little Miss Crankypants

I want this week to be over. My email was down for over 12 hours .  I’ve been having annoying health issues.  AND I’m still not sleeping well.

So lemme just say that I got my crankypants on.

It’s a good thing too, since I happened to have joined Team Crankypants on Ravelry for the Tour de Fleece. Apparently I’m also to blame for this as well, but that’s another story.

My goal for the tour is to experiment with some art yarn.  I want to try spinning some coils and corespun. I’m mighty afeared of these techniques, but I think with the help of my teammates, I’ll be able to conquer that fear and Just Do It.

In an effort to free the spinning queue in preparation for the tour, I have some yarn to show you.

Stormy Skies

400 yards – 2ply

14 WPI – 4.4 oz

I spun this up from some lovely batts gifted to me for Christmas by the lovely Jen of Hungry For Handspun. It was so much fun to spin. This one has alpaca, merino, sari silk, and sparkly angelina.

I’m already plotting to acquire more of her lovely batts.

Midnight Desire by CJ Kopec

386 yards – single ply

18 WPI – 4.4 oz

100% Corriedale

Let me start by saying that I hate Corriedale. I hate it hate it hate it. I just do. BUT, I could not resist this color! Look how rich it is! It’s to die for.  Yes?

So although I wasn’t thrilled with spinning it, (it was just too harsh for my delicate hands. What?!) I love the yarn that came off the wheel. I’m keeping this one for myself and I plan on making a shawl with it.

Here’s one little guy who obviously has no problems sleeping and doesn’t own a single pair of crankypants.

Happy Wednesday, folks! Do you own a pair of crankypants?

Ohhhhh.. Me likey teh yarnz. Doode – somehow I’ve ended up on three teams for the Tour de Fleece. What in the hell am I thinking?? I hope one project counts for all three teams. If not, I’m up the crick!

I hope you are getting some rest and feeling better very soon. You are being very productive with such beautiful yarns. I, too, am afraid of core spun and I look forward to watching your progress. Sammy looks like a little lion.

Hah! I bet I’ve got crankier pants than you do. Not that its something I’m proud of. :-P

Take care. Hope you can get a handle on your health problems and slap the heck out of them!

If you weren’t such an enabler we wouldn’t blame you for shit. ;-)
Purty stuff. You’ll be great with the art yarn. It’s not like it bites.

Ooooh a shawl! Sounds good. Can’t wait to see :)

  7. Dave Says:

Yummy yarns! Interesting about the Corrie — harsh to spin, but soft enough to keep for a shawl? Hmmm.

Opal goes Artsy!! I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

  8. April Says:

I’m really enjoying the dark colors of both those yarns. Very nice.

Good luck learning the new spinning techniques.

I’m so sorry about the health and sleep troubles. They seem to chase and escalate each other, don’t they.

    Lovely yarns.

I can’t wait to see your adventures in art yarns.

Cranky rulz! Yeah, what Sarah said about the sleeping/health connection. I hope you can find something to help one and the other will follow. I’m srsly still trying to recover from overdoing it when Texas was home. And no… not in that way Miss Smartass. :D

Happy Thursday! THe week is almost over.

  15. Sarah Says:

Love the yarns! I almost never spin batts, and I always love the results. Maybe I need to do something to remedy that situation.

As to the crankypants, well, I think mine have been on more often since the pregnancy hormones kicked in. My poor husband …

  16. Carrie K Says:

Now that my vacation is over, the week might as well be too. I hope next week is better for you! and that you get some sleep. Poor baby.

    Pretty yarns and baubles though!

Loving the new yarns, especially that gorgeous purple! I’m not sure I’ve spun Corriedale yet. I’ll have to make a note of that! I’m also glad I didn’t buy the Corriedale sheep I was considering a few years ago!

Art yarns – how cool is that! I can’t wait to see what y’all come up with!

Loving the new blog pics as well! Happy weekend Opal!

(as for the crankypants – who wouldn’t love you anyway??) :) HUGS

That’s for sure! The one thing about crankypants? They don’t care if you’ve gained a few pounds. I know mine always fit.
